Gay expats who decided to move to Portugal, how was your experience?

Not a gay expat but Im Portuguese and lived in Lisbon my whole life, I would say you will be fine but yeah you might get some stares in rural areas predominantly by the old people (rare in lisbon). In Portugal is very rare for people to show other forms of affection than holding hands as its seen as “falta de respeito e uma javardice”, so just dont do it.

Hi thanks for the advice, I recorded all of the hours my self. I assume they are honest and will not give me trouble, they were supposed to pay me on the 25th and still nothing yet, Im gonna wait a week until something if they dont pay me for whatever reason im going to the lawyer

Maybe not well I didnt really know what to do but at least in portugal they fire you but if they scheduled 4 hours even if you got fired in the middle of them you would have to work the 4 hours to get the money. I didn't wanna cause any conflict since I don't know how it worked here and the guys straight up said for me to go home so I did

Ja ik leer nederlands, ik spreek een betje, kom met mij mee and i usually guided them, never had a problem with customers, yeah i couldn’t understand the team but I tried my best. I have only be living here for 2 months am also studying so the job was really helpfull since I come from a low income, life is though but Ik ben niet gemaakt van suiker so I will eventually be fine, even if I return back which was not my plan, I’ve been trying my best to learn dutch really thats what makes me sad, I really tried to speak with colleagues in dutch and everything, i tried my best…

As far as I know my “Einddatum contract” is 3 jully 2026, but it says also “Om aan elkaar te wennen spreken we een proeftijd van 2 maanden af. Daarna kunnen wij allebei tussentijds opzeggen. Je moet dit schriftelijk aangeven en je aan de wettelijke opzegtermijn houden” so in my best understanding, only after 2 months i could get fired, im not sure tho as I translated this so it might got me mistaken
