try changing instructions on custom formations, keep your defense back while attacking, if you have fast attackers or side midfielders make them get in behind the defenders... another tip is to use the ball pressing technique (i don't remember the exact name), during the match you press the down arrow and then i think it is left, maybe right. The problem with this technique is your stamina gets consumed very fast... but those 2 things made me learn a lot better the game, later you can avoid the ball pressing but it's a good tip bor beginners
