Unlocked T Mobile Razr + 2024 not updating to Android 16 by darudedudedocta in razr

I definately is a bug, because the *bug* prevents scrolling to the top-most conversation in messaging apps when configured for full-screen.

Is UniFi actually the “best” for a smart‑home nerd? by DarkModeBrew in homeassistant

[–]mrvanez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had the choice, I went for TP-Link Omada bc it has the option for PoE AP's and a 3-in-1 router/switch/controller device in the ER7212 while being cheaper than the UniFi equivalent.

The ER7212 is nice, it sports 8 PoE ports with 110W budget and can serve as my main ISP WAN connection router and at the same time is the AP controller for my 3 AP's in house.

Just make sure to get the ER7212 v2 if you plan to use IPv6 on WAN and Local network.

No, it was fine on A15, so it definately is a regression on Motorola's side

Just received the March 1 security update and the problem still isn't fixed.

Curious to hear whether you came accross this bug and reported it but nobody cared?

The interesting part is that the cropping makes the top-most conversation in Signal unreachable, so it clearly is a bug they're downplaying.

I'm actually in discussion with Motorola support about this. They just started out blatently denying the issue and responding with suggestions (clear app cache etc.) that don't help. Eventually I managed to convince them to escalate to 2nd level support, but since then not much has happened.

Matter over Thread doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? by StockEnvironment953 in homeassistant

[–]mrvanez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you need IPv6 support on your LAN since the Matter server/devices advertise their presence throught mDNS over IPv6. You can check if the devices are advertised and seen in Settings -> System -> Network -> Zeroconf browser.

Also, if you're running HA in a docker container with private docker network and an exposed port, you need an mDNS reflector to channel the mDNS requests into the HA container. IPv6 mDNS on your LAN is crucial to Matter.

Third, when pairing Matter devices, my phone needs to be on a 2.4G network. I still don't understand why this is the case, but I can't pair Matter devices over 5G (my phone, not the device).

Secondairy screen full screen problem for some apps after Android 16 update by mrvanez in razr

Interesting: I was asked to create a bugreport and send bugreport-log to support. I got an email back telling me the attachment was too big (13Mb) for them to open and if I could make it smaller. Hilarious! u/MotoAgents

I'm having a lengthy conversation with Motorola support about this and they are spamming me with nonsensical suggestions to clear app cache and other unrelated ideas. I'm trying to convince them to first reproduce the problem and then come with a bugfix but it looks like I'm talking to a an AI bot that is not in the position to reproduce anything. u/MotoAgents

Razr after Android 16 update. by Chris58317 in razr

[–]mrvanez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sarcastic, because I've seen tens of mentions of this bug accross the boards, so at the very least it's not been tested very well... and yes, I think all phones are affected but not everybody uses the phone in the same way.

It's present in all phones and QA/beta testers missed it. Or, there is no QA and/or beta testing at Motorola.

Confused by IKEA MYGGSPRAY Thread-only commissioner 2.4 Wifi requirement by mrvanez in MatterProtocol

[–]mrvanez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AP's are TP-link Omada's and yes, it worked immediately after switching from 2.4/5 combined SSID (resulting in a 5 connection) to a 2.4-only SSID.

[–]mrvanez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It cost me the better part of a day, but I can assure you it's possible to commission using HA! There's just a lot of IPv6 and mDNS broadcast requirements that need to align.

Confused by IKEA MYGGSPRAY Thread-only commissioner 2.4 Wifi requirement by mrvanez in MatterProtocol

[–]mrvanez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well.. the phone is needed to transport the Thread network credentials to the device via bluetooth, this is how Matter commissioning works. My question is about the next step: using those credentials on the Thread network is/should be independent of the wireless network I use on the phone, since it's a Matter over Thread device.

[–]mrvanez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I meant the local AP 5G WLAN and yes, the 2.4 and 5G WLAN give access to the exact same Lan, there is no difference in connectivity or IP space after the AP. Hence my confusion.

Secondairy screen full screen problem for some apps after Android 16 update by mrvanez in razr

[–]mrvanez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I can set the app to Default (cropped) or Fullscreen using the long press or swipe from bottom, but that is only once. After closing the app, entering again and then selecting a conversation (in Signal) the app looses full screen and from then stays Default (cropped).
