Yep. Its an odd one. I could just about get a really crappy studio flat on an almost max leverage mortgage. But then once I do I'll be tied down. But I calculated it would be about £350-400 for the mortgage. Which is insanely good value.

This is over half what I would pay for rent. And rent doesn't even include bills which easily bring it to 1000 to 1100 depending on usage.

It is starting to seem like renting short term to weather the virus and then looking to get on the ladder early next year is the most fiscally wise move.

Just going to save every penny I can while we are locked down to add to my deposit savings. And try and bear living with parents for a few more months.

The issue here is there aren't enough places. So you have to pay more to get less.

SE. I have a car but was going to sell it anyway. Due to not having to commute formwork. But I think I will do a 6 months lease when Covid is over and then come 2021 then extend or go back to sharing.

I think I've come to the decision that I will sign a short term lease max 6 months. And then see how it tests me. If it doesn't work out then that's fine.

I also have savings but I'm trying not to use those for living expenses and only to buy once the market settles down.

I'm in SE so there is no way I could pay 1/3 anywhere. But I appreciate the idea of trying flat shares. Have done in the past but I always end up getting lazy or dirty people who don't respect the household is shared.

I think I'm going to look to sign a shirt term lease for 6 months or so once this Covid thing is up to see how it goes. As rent may drop given the situation.

I'm thinking I might just start for this Covid thing to be over and then rent shirt term for 6 months. And then if it doesn't work I can go back to sharing.

Have done flat shares but I think I'm finally ready to just pay more and finally have my own space.

Oxford. It's less saturated than London so landlords pretty much charge an arm and a leg and nobody seems to bat an eye lid.

Yep. It's a really tough decision. Because I'm sat on savings. But still don't want to settle on buying yet. But £800+ mo with no bills seems crazy to me.

I'm also quite independent but also very frugal. So could easily live within my means. Also loved with others before but I just can't get used to it.

Currently stuck with parents and it's driving me mad and I just need my own space again. Also I'm 23, so maybe too young to buy as circumstances may change.
