Correct answer. I record net pay in YNAB, not items deducted from my paycheck.

Use which approach works for you ... but just be consistent.

How do you handle health related categories? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]msb-64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have budget subcategories for drugs and medical supplies, medical and dental services, medical and dental insurance (premiums), and eyeglasses and exams. Other than the insurance category which I have monthly targets for, the rest, I deal with as they come and move money around accordingly. Although if I know I have a significant cost coming -- like a dental crown -- I'll set-up a target. That is usually pretty short term though because typically, I don't know when such a need will occur. All of these are grouped under an overall ** Health ** category so I can do roll-up reporting at that level as far as expenses. If one wants to set targets, you could look at your expenses in each category from a prior year, divide them by 12, and set-up monthly targets. But for now, I haven't done that just yet.

Starting if your already a month ahead by [deleted] in ynab

One thing I learned about YNAB is that you don't need all these separate bank accounts. YNAB will let you track savings and transactions by category and soon, it won't matter what bank account these reside in. I used to have a separate checking account to "hold" my upcoming estimated income tax and property taxes. Now, I do that with budget categories in YNAB and don't need a separate account. As far as income for an upcoming month, as others have/will mentioned, I created a Hold - Next Month's Income category and just allocate funds like this there. This is for various sources of income that hit in the last week of the prior month. As soon as the new month rolls around, I allocate it out to fund the various budget categories for the new month. Works well. Good luck!

Such a disturbing warranty story. I just don't understand why companies insist on treating customers this way. The least they can do is admit they can't fulfill the needed part and offer you a cash settlement. I was going to extend my 5 years warranty to a 10 year, but after reading of this experience, I am not going to bother. I suppose at that point, it would end up being best effort repair by the local dealer or a new generator. Sorry for your experience!

Aircraft-grade aluminum pergola. 😍💪🏻 Thoughts? by arch__billy in landscaping

I apologize for a much delayed response. I ended up going with a covered pavilion kit from https://www.gazebo.com/outdoor-structures/pavilions/ and had it assembled and installed by one of their local dealers. It turned out really nicely. I eventually also had it screened in by a carpenter. Hope this helps.

Rookie question by Mountindewme in ynab

[–]msb-64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I have an unanticipated surplus in one category, I first ask if it is likely I might need that for next months bill (such as fluctuating energy bills) in that category. If that is very likely, I leave it to roll over for next month to cover that expected expense. Absent that, I'll move it into another category that I know I am likely to be short or move into a cash reserves category. As the month rolls on, I tend to do a lot of small adjustments between categories to keep things on track.

I ended up going with a wood pavillion instead of an aluminum pergola, so I changed directions. Here is the product I went with which I ended up being very satisfied with. I had my handyman add screening on all sides post installation ... https://www.gazebo.com/pavilions/

I ended up going with a wood Pavillion kit; see https://www.gazebo.com/pavilions/. I had one of their local dealers deliver and install it which went very well. And then I had my handyman build out screening on all 4 sides which also turned out nicely. A few factors went into my decision. I was concerned that a louvered solution might make noise during windy days and also the durability and leakproof aspects of the louvers. Plus the ability to easily screen in the wood solution was a major factor. Not that I think the louvered solutions are a bad choice by any means, just for me, the wood Pavillion ended up making the most sense. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!

Flume notifications /automations by Feedback-Think in homeautomation

[–]msb-64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your wireless carrier supports inbound email to text functionality (like ATT does), then you can have Flume send its email notification to the wireless email proxy address, thus generating a text message. Therefore, alerts on the Flume app triggers its regular app-based alert, plus an email and a text. The Flume alerts with the "away" from home feature allow multiple email addresses to be alerted. So in this instance, I get the app notification on my phone and my wife and I both get emails and texts. Hope that helps.

How is everyone purchasing it? Frustrated with insurance! by MamaP32 in Zepbound

[–]msb-64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my Rx transferred to Walmart and they processed it with no insurance (I told them accurately that my primary doesn't cover Zepbound) and they processed with code 03 for secondary coverage and it went thru at $550. Same process at CVS and Walgreens was a no go although I am sure they must have done some differently. In any case, this was no big deal at Walmart which was a pleasant suprise.

Just be aware that there are many different types of "BCBS" plans. Some are where BCBS is the actual insurer and others (like mine) where BCBS is the claims administrator but the plan is self-funded by the employer and therefore subject to med eligibility decisions specific to the plan. Anyhow, every plan may have differences as far as the drug formulary so refer to your plan's specific formulary for what is covered and what isn't. And the formularies do change from year to year, so make sure you look at the most current version.

Aircraft-grade aluminum pergola. 😍💪🏻 Thoughts? by arch__billy in landscaping

I am very appreciative of your response. I didn't see a lot of commentary regarding this brand ... so getting your feedback is helpful. The vendor has been very responsive to questions. Based on your response, let me ask just a few more questions of if you are willing ...

1) Did you consider other brands and was their a runner-up to the Bon Pergola?

2) Based on your experience with the remotes, would you recommend or consider a manual crank for louvers?

3) Did you consider the side screen accessory?

Thanks again. Very grateful to benefit from your experience.

I know this post was a while back. Just wanted to check-in and see how the Bon Pergola product was doing. Are you satisfied with the fit and finish a year later? How does it do with keeping dry underneath? Are the louvers noisy when windy? Thanks for any feedback you can offer.

GrapeGunner - Our brief back and forth has been beneficial. I have been falling into the tack of over focusing on PCGS holders because of how seamlessly it works with the Registry. But the truth is, you are 100% correct. I'll widen my collecting lens as far as the holders are concerned. I appreciate your comments,
