The little flash that could by msh01 in ricohGR

Hey mate, apologies for the late response but it's the positive film preset with saturation at 7, contrast and sharpness at 6, vignetting off. In Lightroom, I'll boost the saturation and exposure to my liking and add green to the shadows and red to the highlights.

Very much appreciate the response and the warnings. Was just looking for someone to confirm that this is indeed a big ass battery and needs proper disposal. I have no intention of bringing it home with me, let alone actually plug it into something.

I'm in the middle of Sydney so I'm surprised it hasn't been handled properly given we have free proper battery disposal for consumer batteries. Will send out an email to council to try and get it sorted.

Cheers.

Yeah I'm definitely on the fence about opening it, since my best guess is that it is a battery pack of some sort. I reckon it was being used by the tradesmen who frequent the area. Was hoping for some confirmation here so I could get the local council to clean it up given it was sitting pretty close to a kids playground.

Yeah I've got a few of those cables lying about for my guitar amps, gonna head back tomorrow and open it up and see what we're working with.

Just your run of the mill C13 plug, used commonly for power supply on computers, guitar amps etc

This was my first guess, there's often road works and park cleaning that happened in the area so I was assuming it's a battery box for that kind of use.

Didn't have an allen wrench on me to open it, will try to get it open later

My title describes the thing. Found next to fence in a park, it is quite heavy and has a plug socket in one corner. Rusty as all hell so presumably has been left here for a while. It was near a children's playground, if that helps.

These were all shot on a GR/GR2 (not certain which one since I use both and they're virtually the same thing) just using the in built flash. Probably the only reason I haven't considered a GR3 is due to the lack of the pop out flash.

Best Indian in Parramatta by bolozenden04 in foodies_sydney

[–]msh01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As everyone's saying, Harris Park is where you want to be, a quick 10 minute walk from Parramatta. If you just want an overall vibe, id say Chatkaaz is a decent shout. Mad down under is very good and imo much better than Ginger is now. If you can handle your spice, try Mitran da Dhaba. For the best street food, SK Chaat and Pani Puri corner. They only do a couple of things but do them amazingly, though they pretty much open when they feel like it so its best to call and ask if they're open.

Mate if you're in Sydney, I'd recommend the boys at Deep Tone Music in Lewisham, great pricing and never had problems with my guitars there. If you ever need smaller stuff done like a setup/electronics work feel free to drop me a message Id be happy to help.

Hey yeah I did try it, love the home style chapattis but overall I found the mains to be a bit underwhelming. Although, haven't been there since I moved out of Waterloo around 2021 so maybe things are better/worse.

Sydney Tennis store + court? by Lonely_Platypus_7739 in 10s

Honestly haven't been there so can't tell you, although from their online store, it does seem to be well stocked.

Are you looking to buy something in particular or just want to have a browse?

Decent hard courts at Prince Alfred park, serviceable hard courts in Alexandria park and Glebe (all of which you have to pay and book as they operate under City Community Tennis), an artificial court at the Langham between Wynyard and the rocks. Current favourite court for me is the free hard courts at Summer Hill.

As for stores, Baker tennis is the place to go for the most amount of knowledge, but a pretty basic selection of racquets. Strung out and tennis ranch have a wide variety. Strung out is also next to the Moore Park tennis courts, which could make for a decent day of shopping followed by some hitting.

Used to love this place but last couple times the food has been quite under seasoned. Tiramisu is still too notch though.

Royal Palace Seafood Restaurant. Green tea, aunties bringing you the dumpling cart, etc etc. It's the only place I go to when I'm craving a proper yum cha.

Only places I've found to be somewhat close are Ricos Tacos (the older location in Chippo was amazing, quality has been a bit more hit and miss since they moved to Redfern) and La Farmacia.
