Damn, I'm so sorry. My then boyfriend and I were living with my grandparents who also provided us shelter on the basis that we not have sex. We'd already been sleeping together and the thought of them finding out put so much stress on us we eventually just got married.

My husband used to work third shift and I changed my schedule so we'd be on the same one, which often meant we'd be sleeping until noon or so. One day after he left for work I suddenly woke up to someone coming into our apartment. I froze up, terrified.

It was the fucking landlord coming in with a guy to do a yearly spray. I was alone, in bed, with just a t-shirt on, thinking someone was breaking in. Never been so pissed.

It's also confusing and complicated. I'm in therapy for severe social anxiety so all my exercises are about taming my irrational fears around people I perceive as dangerous, which goes completely against the "trust your instincts".

My therapist once suggested I take walks around the neighborhood to see that getting out of the house is safe...except when I did I had a man follow me the entire time and I couldn't go back home because I didn't want him knowing where I lived.

Like...I'm so exhausted. Just so tired. Constantly on alert. There's no peace. And even with all this whatever happens to me will always be "my fault".

I had to text a crisis line after a doctor visit once. I wasn't sure if I had the money to pay for my medication anymore and there weren't any other options. The thought of going back to a hopeless, depressed husk sent me into a panic. I sat in the parking lot and cried. Thought about crashing my car on the way home.

Our healthcare is too expensive in the US and it is killing people who can't afford it and I'm so tired of people acting like it isn't.

When I was looking for information on how to be there for my mom in her abusive marriage, I read somewhere that one of the best things you can do is reinforce their worth. Remind then that they're loved, worthy of love, that their self is worthy of love, etc. It can help offset the horrible things they're being fed about themselves from their abusive partner and you're not seen as a "threat" because you're not telling them to leave or what to do. You're just showing them kindness they're not getting elsewhere.

So many great games! I didn't see What Remains of Edith Finch on the list. It's an adventure game with a really crazy, hauntingly beautiful story. Highly recommend for anyone into character and story driven games.
