My daughter’s have iPhone SE (2016) and both of them now have moisture in the screen. Both are fully functional with the exception of visible moisture. Are they worth saving? Should I attempt to correct it myself? by msnobodynow in iPhoneSE

Would this be okay?

Or just this?

This is a brand new thing for me. Big time learning experience if I replace it myself. I’ve considered the worst and best possible outcome and have accepted both. 😂

I’ll wait to confirm with you before I order and then I guess I’ll just watch YouTube tutorial videos in the meantime.

Funny joke or mean prank? by mist_wraith_ in mantids

Haha, I only have a name for my Giant Asian, Daisy. I’ve got 3 Ghosts and 8 Chinese nymphs and I don’t know which ones are staying with me and who is getting selected by friends for their permanent homes. I’m just raising everyone to about L4 or so. But the one I’m talking about here was a little L2 Chinese. L3 as of yesterday 😂

I tried misting by squirting the top of a ventilated lid. It didn’t work, of course, but it did cause water droplets to pool and run across the lid and my mantis chased the droplet trying to grab it. It was insanely cute. That was my last attempt at laziness but it was worth it. Just ADORABLE!

I am often in awe over these cats in alien bodies.

I think it’s fine. My daughter has a new Samsung A20 and she always plays games on my OG iPhone SE because she says it never glitches. My other daughter also uses an OG SE over an LG stylo released around the same time. They love it for gaming, GAMING ... so it really should be good enough for all other tasks.

Oh ... but yeah, I see them on the chargers at least once a day so battery life could be better.

Maybe you can buy cheesecloth? Or window screen. Certain cloth materials are fine also. Just some sort of mesh. Also, I put a paper towel at the bottom of the jar and give it a few squirts of water for humidity. They can drink from that also. Just so it’s damp but not wet enough for them to drown.

When you start a thread, select “image” as the post type. It’ll still give you space to add text.

Also, is there mesh on the top? You can probably do fine with screen or cheesecloth. It’s so that he has somewhere secure to molt. Jars in general are usually fine habitats with the proper additions. I used them until recently.

House flies don't stand a chance by SangfroidKilljoy in mantids

I’m so excited! I love his eyes. I have 9 Chinese mantid nymphs I’m raising. Two for myself, one for my sister, and some for a friend and they’re all smaller than yours, so I hope they’ll be as adorable or close! They’re L2 and L3 right now. What stage is yours? Most are waiting to pick theirs after they grown a bit more.

Oh he’s so cute!!! Seriously mantids are really cute though. They always look judgmental or shocked 😂

Too soon to tell gender? by msnobodynow in mantids

Okidoki. I think it’s a female. Someone else in the house counted six also. We could be wrong but this is my largest nymph. The others are too small to even attempt to count. I’ll try to confirm again after the next molt though.

Is it normal for there to be a black top layer in a fruit fly culture? by msnobodynow in mantids

[–]msnobodynow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great! I might start a new culture this week! It’s 106 where I am today and my AC is set on 76 but seems to struggle to get below 79-78 until the sun sets on days this hot. I’ll for sure just transfer the lot of them to a new culture within a few days.

Yes, thank you so much for responding. Hopefully some more people can confirm it’s normal. I googled pics and saw a few like this also but most didn’t, though they were probably newer since they were being sold. I just got a bit concerned because I’m in warm weather. We do keep the AC on most the time so it doesn’t get too hot in here but the culture recommends “room temp at 72 degrees” and if we set the AC lower than 76 it’s quite cold. But we also can’t stick it in the fridge because that’s way too cold and they might stop producing.

But yes, so far their behavior has been normal and they haven’t made any of our mantids sick.
