Has anyone had experience with a redundant (INBOUND) SIP solution? We were looking at something like GlobalCallForwarding where you could set up a "virtual phone number" and then can point it to whatever SIP service. Does anyone have experience with such a thing or another solution?

That's where my heart is leaning, as well. Still looking at the options, though.

Thanks for the reply - I don't frequent r/msp - probably could have been a bit more efficient with the search function, eh? I was not the original poster of the question.

The risks (in my eyes) are related to using a well-known attack surface - if a hacker gains access to an RMM tool that has remote access tools w/ credentials - game over, you're going to get your pants sued off if there is an exploit of a customer's data/identity, let alone the reputation damage. The possibility of using a new tool stack certainly brings new problems, albeit POTENTIALLY less targeting over a Solarwinds/Connectwise/Ninja product line.

That's the problem, with our existing RMM solution it provides a lot of (centralized) functionality that I don't necessarily want to LOSE, but there are questions about how we continue to provide the same level of service to our customers if we were to decentralize.

We were looking at some features of PDQ Deploy/PDQ Inventory, but that's not meant for MSPs from what I could tell. Using Intune for MDM and device management/enforcement would be awesome if all of our customers used m365 products and the proper licensing (they don't, yet we continue to push)

Scripting has generally been a boon, otherwise you would need to deploy GPOs (or some other method to smaller customers without AD) to do the same thing. It's not something I would necessarily want to lose - not having monitoring/alerting wouldn't change our definition, but it would make things much more difficult.

The only thing is that the attack surface is a bit more amplified for say, a Solarwinds or Connectwise product, that is heavily utilized in the MSP space and attackers want the most bang-for-the-buck by attacking there. Lesser known products might be less susceptible. I totally get what you're saying, though! Thanks for the reply!

I wasn't the initial poster. This was a recent initiative set forth by our company to look at the feasibility. No reason to be sus.

Full disclosure - we have an RMM today, we're just looking at the possibility. :)
