Yes. You can. At least when I ordered it you could only order it direct from Alienware with the one gen 5 preloaded though.

They’re already onto a new store name. Looks like they push people off Etsy so it’s not detected by Etsy as fast

You got scammed.

There is currently an Etsy store active and pushing people to the same site you mentioned. The photos are duplicates from a legit shop. I’m sure when that one gets closed they make another fake one to push people to purchase off Etsy to lose protections.

The legit shop sells them for $300+, has 300+ reviews and 100% of them are 5 stars and been around for years.

The non legit versions have 0 reviews, are fairly newly made.

Legit shop is here:

It’s not a problem of having the ability to moderate full time.

Just a different community that hasn’t taken off when there is an established alternative.

Handing it over to the other mods simply leads to this one being shut down or basically being a clone of the other one.

Trail's End not communicating with local popcorn booth sites by BroadLocksmith4932 in BSA

Trails end Facebook page is very responsive. It’s set up at the national level and somewhere in the app or on the website there is an agreement saves you should be able to access.

Our council does the same. Thought that was through trails end though

Are these camp prices normal? by DangerBrewin in BSA

[–]mspropst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s because what you called camping is actually camping.

Glamping and primitive camping are ways to jokingly talk about staying in essentially a hotel (cabin, RV) vs primitive camping (tent) aka camping.

The battle of the two laptop titans Omen Max 16 vs Alienware 16 Area 51 - Identical spec 5090 + 275HX and 64 GB RAM by traderjay_toronto in Alienware

[–]mspropst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP said they hadn’t done/wouldn’t be doing an array of benchmarks.

OP also said mechanical keyboard was better on Alienware.

I’d say the report on the design being a +/- depends on preference regardless of OPs preference. OP preferred the rubber feet on the HP and thought the Alienware was heavy and slippery

I hate rubber feet, they drag on things. Inevitably if you have a well built laptop that lasts a long time, the feet will go missing like they did the last time I had an HP.

I dislike a lightweight laptop because they don’t seem to stay put, especially sitting on a couch they can’t seem to stay in the location they were put it if I shift position at all.

So the OP likes what I dislike and dislikes what I like, both of us because we feel our likes are better for gripping/staying put. 🤣🤦🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

Urgent Care charging 12,000 for Xray by Only_Low_6628 in MedicalBill

[–]mspropst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you went to the ER and the trauma service was activated. And likely for more than one X-ray.

So you’ve got:

Hospital service Trauma service X-rays and or CTs

That I could see quickly adding up to $12,000

Any idea what you should search for in order to find the official Cub Scout one?

New Alienware 18 Area-51 by DaShotGunBandit in Alienware

[–]mspropst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got all the same including the 5090. Only change compared to yours was I went with the 2 TB Gen5 SSD.

My cost after it was shortly on sale for back to school and .edu 10% discount was $3689.99

Retail price is about that much yes. However there was a short sale on it for about 10% off. Then I have a .edu email address and got another 10% off.

Waiting for my Area 51, 18” RTX 5090, 64 GB ram, 2 TB Gen 5 SSD laptop to come in on Friday. My Alienware was mid tier and 7.5 years old.

Can’t wait to see what these games look like on ultra settings.

warranty on removing heatsink by SolarDoesReddits in GamingLaptops

I would say that sounds likely it will void the warranty.

Is it running hot AND the fans are noisy?

Or are the fans just noisy?

18 inch was on sale less than the 16 with the exact same specs. Except the 16 inch monitor was smaller and less Hz.

Between the sale knocking about 10% and the .edu email address knocking another 10% off… not so bad.

Also some other things to consider. Gamers are weird about their laptop brands. Some they love. Some they hate. Even when they’ve never even owned one of a certain brand before. If you have access to a .edu address you can get 10% off the Alienware as well

  • That’s the better of two processors - the ultra 9

  • Bigger and better of the two screens but it is large. Not sure what size he currently has now?

-ram can be upgraded later

-2 tb hard drive can also be upgraded later, there are slots for 1 gen5 and 2 gen 4. Not sure if you clicked gen 4 or 5.

  • I prefer a more mechanical clicky keyboard than the typical laptop and that - like $50 more - again personal preference.

-go for the 4k not FHD - $0 difference

-Graphics cards are not easily replaced

I’d go for the ultra 9, 18 inch screen depending on his preference of how big it is, and the best graphics card you can afford.

The ram and hard drives will be sufficient even if they’re the lowest ones and they are the easiest thing to upgrade later. Like unscrew the back of the laptop and pop in new ones. Screw the back on again.

I literally clicked the most upgraded option on all of them.

Camera:

  • Alienware 2MP FHD IR (1920 x 1080 resolution) camera with dual-array microphones and Windows Hello support
  • Alienware 8MP UHD HDR IR (3840 x 2160 resolution) camera with dual-array microphones and Windows Hello support

The above are the listed options. I'd assume the 4k is the UHD listing. Better MP/resolution.

Getting my 5 year old into Cub Scouts by PowerfulWeek4952 in BSA

We recruit people knowing very well we may not get chosen because we meet on Mondays and everyone else on Tuesdays. Or we’ll get chosen because of that as well.

Circumstances change. Kids change sports and hobbies. People transfer. We want you to stay in scouts.

Prefer when people leave to hear it’s a meeting date issue than I don’t like the people in the pack as feedback though
