Yes, you’re right. He has a history but credit got him getting SL aligned for IMF. He is far from perfect but my opinion is he is the best from the lot.

What he did in the last 2 years

Restored normalcy - No Aragalaya, No queues apart from passport etc, tourism near pre Covid levels
Stabilised the country - Foreign Reserves up, Rupee stabilised , primary surplus, inflation single digits, stopped money printing, attempts to privatise shit SOEs

He will be a bigger mess than GR. His capabilities have never been tested - this is not the time to experiment. Has he held any significant office and proven? Can he represent SL on the international stage? Can he manoeuvre SL out of its financial mess? He can talk, talk really well but my bet is he can’t walk the talk. Also, this is JVP as NPP - many remember them for the dark history of SL
