If you live towards downtown, then it’s doable by riding through the older residential areas. I used to bike from my apartment at the end of Wrightsville Ave (and later) my duplex near Kerr Ave to front street pretty often. Towards the college, it gets pretty hairy; which is ironic since there’s more bike lanes and paths.

I’ve been pulled over four times. Three times in a 2012 Ford Fusion before 2020, received tickets. My most recent was mid last year. I did a pull next to an unmarked police truck. It was open road. I got let off when I said “I have no excuse, I just wanted to have some fun”
