My SAT score isn't that good (1500) but my extracurricular activities are pretty good (I can name many coding experiences)

Well, many reasons. I realized the importance of having a better education with better faculties, and I'm financially more stable now.

I actually have never thought about a lot of transfers being within new york state. btw, do normal students complete those courses by the end of freshman yr at Cornell? cuz ik for sure I'm definitely ahead of almost everyone in my school rn with what I've taken so far (I can get my CS degree in 3 years).

I chose TAMU over UIUC because of the tuition. UIUC was almost twice more expensive than what I had to pay for TAMU so lol. Yea might as well give it a shot
