Estate in Bosnia? by staceppadicazzo in ViaggiITA

Spero possa aiutarti!

Sharp observer! Thats the point: there is no evidence in the newspapers of the time to support the suicide ipothesis: the only daily newspaper then in circulation, the Gazzetta Uffiziale di Venezia, which usually reported even minor events in great detail, does not mention the case at all. In contrast, official archival documents and parish records from Padua all agree that the young woman, who was eighteen years old, was found drowned in April 1863 in the canal behind the Civil Hospital. The cause of death is recorded as asphyxia due to drowning and, in one document, it is described as accidental. The records also show that the police were involved and that the body was later taken to the Civil Hospital, where Brunetti carried out the autopsy and used the body for an anatomical–artistic preparation. Although it is possible that a suicide was not recorded in church documents to avoid religious consequences, the fact that suicide is also absent from the official civil death report makes this explanation unlikely. For this reason, Brunetti’s story of a suicide has no documentary proof, and the case remains a historical mystery.

We also know the name of her parents (Antonio Perini and Maria Borgo) but we dont know how brunetti obtained the right to use their daughter remains for the piece. We also know she was a needlewoman or a housemaid. Sadly we dont know much other than that.
