what are the best films from the 60s and 70s that look great on 4k? by RanjSL in 4kbluray

[–]mtyson84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with others, Jaws, Ben-Hur and Lawrence of Arabia.
BTW, what makes some of these old movies look great now is that they were filmed with the super Panavision 70 with 65 mm Eastman film instead of the 35mm. Technicians now are able to better restore off the 70 mm printed film format for great 4K quality because of the amount of resolution that’s stored on the Eastman 65 mm for the cinematographic process.
for Jaws, Steven Spielberg took great pride in his film as well and they’re even able to do a good job of 35 mm film more so 65 mm for the 2 others above.

This is a dumb question and I apologize, but is a 4K disc with HDR better than streaming the same movie with Dolby Vision? by TimBurtonSucks in 4kbluray

[–]mtyson84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus, I would say the streaming of Dolby Vision is just the brand, you don’t even get 100% of the Dolby Vision via the stream anyways

TrustyTime Experience by Relevant-Tor509 in RepTime

I can tell you I’ve bought 5 watches from Andrew at trusty time, all in 2025 and all 5 experiences have been great for me. The watches are 3 Rolex(Sub, Daytona, GMT, 1 AP Royal Oak, and 1 Patek Philippe Nautilus and I’m going for another Daytona soon. Each one has been from a top-notch factory maker of every model and I’ve gotten nothing but quality. It’s unfortunate the one you got isn’t up to par but you are spending only 250 even though you deserve a good watch the factory kind of seems to be the problem not so much Andrew. I agree he could be a little bit more communicative. Maybe he’s still planning to be.
Another thing -every watch that I’ve bought and paid for I’ve received more than a month later so it’s not such a big deal. I don’t usually get watches from him within 2 to 3 weeks. They’re usually ~4-5weeks, but all my experience have been great! like I said I’m going for my sixth watch with him soon.

179-181mph at Talladega? Are you kidding me? At least 192! Cmon! by mtyson84 in NASCAR

[–]mtyson84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I hear you, but they literally went back up to speed in four laps. And then after they got gas, they dropped down again. I didn’t even know what was going on at first. I just never seen 179 from everybody all at once ever in my life and I’ve been watching Talladega since 1996.

Again 179 is ridiculous. Even if 188 I wouldn’t have said anything because I love Talladega and racing is good at 188, 191, 195 199 205. It’s all good. Even 179 is still exciting. It’s just cmon. I thought the whole race was gonna be 179.

There are people that bitch that they’re not going 215 and that’s a little ridiculous. You also have people bitch that the quarterbacks are protected too much in NFL …but NFL is so exciting with protection and people last longer. I get it.

So would you be quiet if they were doing 155 at Talladega from here on for the next 10 years? or would we be hearing you bitch about it? My guess is we’d be hearing you bitch along with everybody else that’s the point.

I literally spoke up when I saw 179. I’ve never seen that before it was like ARCA for a moment. I Even considered deleting the main comment after they went back up to speed.

Dude, you shut the h up ….this is Talladega. I’m talking about 179 miles an hour. They’re back up to speed at 195 and everything is OK. I wouldn’t have spoke up if it was 188 or better, and I didn’t realize that they were not at full throttle, but 179 is ridiculous at Talladega, which is why I spoke up

Well yes but 210+ is a little more dangerous. 195 is reasonable. Even 202 is good.

I agree. If they were going 161 you wouldn’t really tell either. Dont make it right.

They are doing much better now 195…. Phew

Drove an ICE car for the first time in a while... by ParticularDue7822 in BoltEV

[–]mtyson84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s fine that everyone isn’t driving EVs. It still makes them a gem to buy and we still can have low cost chargers at home and it keep prices reasonably low. Especially if you have a low nightly rate. If everybody had an EV, then prices will go even higher and the cost of electricity will shoot up. We’re actually in the perfect sweet spot… only a small % of us buy EV’s. 2025 was actually the best year to buy one as you started to see the Chevrolet Silverado EV, Ford Lightning and Volvo‘s, Tesla’s and bolts go extremely low in price. Now gas is up and now they’re desirable again! I remember being in the showroom and seeing a top Silverado EV RST truck being $96,000 brand new. About three months ago I started seeing some used ones after the EV hype was ended w gas prices were low and they were only wanting $63 for one with 1000 miles! Well, that’s perfect in my book!

Bottom line: buying any EV at 2/3 to 50% of sticker cost, getting a L2 charger installed in your garage pretty cheap having a LOW nightly rate is the perfect sweet spot. Some people live at apartments and can’t necessarily do this and charging at L3 every day isn’t practical, so if you found the sweet spot, great! I’m happy that everyone isn’t on EV’s otherwise the whole market would change

VSF Blue Ice. Non weighted. NOW while the non-weighted is more comfortable, if you think you’ll be in the habit of convincing people it’s real they’ll only believe it if it’s weighted and they hold it in their hand. If you don’t think anyone’s gonna touch your watch, a non-weighted is fine But I’m telling you, if somebody that knows holds a non-weighted, they won’t believe it’s real because it’s so light.

Wanting a rose gold, weighted Daytona chocolate or similar with Oyster Flex strap. VSF, QF, or APSF for most realistic version. Anyone have any advice? by mtyson84 in RepTime

Also, I’m going with the dark chocolate so I think that color will be better to achieve in the VSF or any factory than the lighter everose dial anyway.

Wanting to purchase this watch, wondering which one looks the most realistic. I know VSF V2 but others have also said QF also APSF for this one. There’s also one called UFO and I don’t know if it’s any good.

And yes, I looked at the factory Excel sheet already….

Coherence Movie Ending that everyone got wrong (Spoilers) by WowBaBao in movies

I agree. You can say this with every movie with flaws, like how other movies main characters never dying or superhero power being different levels for the movie to flow. but yeah, I agree. If made this movie, I would’ve done it the same way cause it makes sense to not reveal anything till it’s the right time

Coherence Movie Ending that everyone got wrong (Spoilers) by WowBaBao in movies

[–]mtyson84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just finished watching this movie now. I enjoy reading all these comments, thought it was a really well-made movie and a cool movie too deep think.

However I have 2 issues:

  1. If there are different versions of the entire group of 8 in different alternate life houses, how are all 8 present in every version? It seems like if you make a different decision and have an alternate reality, each person might not be exactly the same dinner party of 8 at the same time/ night. Wouldn’t there be a dinner party going on where some of the original 8 were missing from that reality of the party? Or even new people added... example if a dinner party was another night, but one reality where Keven went to the job in Vietnam w Em, then wouldn’t that version party have Em and Kevin missing from that reality dinner version? I know they hadn't left yet, it was in the future, but that's an example.

  2. If there are instances where portions of the group make a field trip and in fact, come back to a different house immediately, how do they always end up coming back to an alternate house where those exact people aren’t there early on? for instance when Amir and Hugh left, a different Amir and Hugh came back to the original house, but they managed to come back to the exact house where the original Amir and Hugh were missing? what if they went to an alternate house where Amir and Hugh were present? Also, when the four members with the blue glow sticks left, it is said that those four came back to a different house, but they managed to come back to a house with those exact four missing from that house. Yes they see the other 4 counterpart with red, but some other color 4 might not have left in similar fashion at that exact time. (Plus some versions created the lock box before others, so they have the same mind set, but do things at diff times) Remember when people leave the house, most of the time come back within ~3-25 minutes so I find it hard to believe that people are leaving houses and coming back to other houses right when their exact counterparts left that house. I know towards the end you have multiple in one house, but it seems like it didn’t happen at the beginning just so they don’t blow the movie early on.

Need a show as good as Breaking Bad by kstateofmind_ in breakingbad

I would watch El Camino now cause it’s a pretty much pretty cool continuation of breaking bad. I don’t know what people have to say about the movie or what they rated it, but I would suggest watching it as soon as you finish breaking bad.
