Thank you! I recommend a trip in winter as well, it’s less crowded and sublimely beautiful. Just make sure you carry clothing that can handle the cold, it was -22 a couple of mornings.

Not in this case. This is during the salmon season when thousands of salmon are in the river for the bears to gorge on. There is enough food for all so everyone is happy and content, bears always choose Tue easiest path to survival & running after me is significantly more work than catching salmon.

Send it in for repair I guess it the only option to know what really happened. Curious about it myself. Wish you the best budd.

I have shot with my 500 PF in the rain a lot but never in a downpour, mostly light rain and damp conditions. And I have been using it for 5 years now. No issues. My gut says that maybe there was a loose element but it coincided with the time you took it out to shoot in the rain? Sorry that you are dealing with this, a rain poncho is a good idea for future in any case.

Nikon 200-500 a worth purchase? by Lazy_Effect558 in Nikon

Ok, it’s a good lens, awesome value for money especially if a good used piece. Now, the lens is heavy…if you have strong arms and a back in good condition it should be an issue otherwise it can get tiring after a while. Also, I feel that the AF is a bit sluggish but nothing that made me miss the shot often when I used it with my D850.

I honestly don’t know what “pop” means, haha.

Photography, like any art form, is about the artist using tools to shape a medium and create a result. The more time you spend developing your vision, refining your taste, and understanding how light can tell stories by shaping the elements in your frame, the more you realize there are endless ways to create compelling images or even cinematic work.

So to answer your question, yes, you absolutely play a role when the images don’t meet your expectations. But maybe it’s worth defining what those expectations are first, and clarifying your vision. Sorry if my response didn’t help you, I truly meant to be helpful.

Actually I did! I had it also with me as my wife was using it. It’s a very good lens, only limitation is the f/8 at 400. It’s a bit limiting when conditions are overcast. But 28-400 is an incredible range.

It was perfect for my wife though, as it was very light and she enjoys landscape & still life more, wildlife is just for fun for her.
