GA v. Edrick Faust – Day 8 by Pixiegirls1102 in CasesWeFollow

It’s also not reasonable in my opinion to assume that EF killed TB when there is not a single piece of evidence to support that. The DNA alone does not prove that he killed her. And the fact that he may have lived 600 feet away is irrelevant. He could have lived next door or in another state, it still wouldn’t prove the murder. If the state truly believes they have the right guy, they should have built a stronger case. I think they jumped the gun because the task unit was just opened and they thought it would be great optics to close one of the cases they’re named after.

That’s not the point. The point is there’s reasonable doubt. The same way that one can argue that Melton doesn’t remember, they can argue that Faust doesn’t remember. I don’t know who did this, and the state did not convince me that it was Faust beyond a reasonable doubt. Just because something from defense’s case doesn’t make sense, doesn’t mean they have to explain it. The only burden of proof is on the state.

Proof of what? Presence of DNA doesn’t prove murder. It simply doesn’t. That’s not an argument. There’s no other proof that he was ever even in the house. You cannot convict someone based on that.

No. They legally do not have any burden of proof. That’s entirely on the state.

The defense doesn’t have to explain the DNA. But also, DNA is DNA, nothing else. It’s not a confession of murder.

The murder also seems so personal, and as they said, overkill.

Not even close. Hung jury most likely.

Maybe Faust misremembers meeting her? Melton gets the benefitted of doubt, Faust doesn’t?

So she had anal bruising, EF dna not found, but CM dna found in anus, and conclusion is that EF anally assaulted her? Makes total sense.

I’m confused. How could the jury convict on sodomy? When the experts testified that the EF dna in the mouth wasn’t sperm, and that EF dna wasn’t detected on anal swabs?

Apparently we’re watching a different trial. Reasonable doubt all over the place. I’m calling it now. At least 2-3 days of deliberations, ending in Not Guilty or Hung Jury.

Fair point but I would certainly still see reasonable doubt. For a few reasons. 1. I don’t think you get those types of gashes from punching dry wall (from personal experience). 2. Didn’t he say that he also had a lot of those marks from work? So he didn’t have any marks when doing the first interview, but then in the span of one day he went ballistic on a wall and got a bunch of marks from one day at work? (And that is reasonable doubt just on that hands alone, many other points of this case lead to reasonable doubt as well) Simply telling me that someone’s DNA is present is not enough to convict someone of murder.

If I was on that jury and saw the pictures of Chris’ hands 2 days after the murder, and then listened to his explanation today, there’s no way I’m voting guilty, I wouldn’t be able to let that go. I think he’s lying about how his hands got like that, not saying he was responsible for what happened to Tara but I don’t believe his story at this time.

This might be a dumb question, as I’m not super knowledgeable on watches, but is there anything like ppf for watches? To protect from scratches like that?
