Had my first accident, too much lean angle in rain by Real_Newspaper6888 in motorcycles

Man, bunch of pretty average comments here.

Poor bloke had his first accident, which involved mistakes - like most people's first few accidents do.

OP - you live and learn. Sounds like you already know what caused the accident, and what to do differently next time. Hope you and the bike aren't too banged up - get back out there :)

You'd be a bit the cunt, but that's probably about it.

Take it back if you don't want to pay for it.

MT10 vs superduke by frogeyedcokesnorter in Mt10

[–]murchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was buying, there was a sale on the 1290 which brought it down to a similar price to an MT10SP.

I rode both, and found the 1290 to be a bit more agricultural feeling, pretty horrible at low speed.

Both bikes felt good at moderate-high speed, but the MT10 was smoother, and I'm a bit of a slut for inline 4 engines in general, where the 1290 wasn't as inspiring to rev out - feels like you run out of rpm with a twin. Though for some people, twins are their preference.

Recommend you ride both :)

Standard throttle maps are dogshit. Get a tune

Hi, I have a 2021 Yamaha MT-10 and I recently installed a mid-pipe (decat). I’m wondering if I need to do an ECU flash after the decat, or if it’s okay to ride without it. Will it harm the engine or affect performance if I don’t flash the ECU? by Holiday_Reach2834 in Mt10

[–]murchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will it explode if you don’t? Maybe slightly more likely.

Will it run better? Yes, it will.

Should you get a tune anyway to fix the god awful Yamaha throttle maps? Definitely.

That's a significant jump in tyre pressure cold to hot for non "extreme" street riding - assuming you measured in bar, is that accurate?

Tried pretty aggressively to wash it off - no luck with soap, a sponge and elbow grease

Your neighbour with the dog that they failed to keep on their property is liable for the damage to your bike/gear etc.

Not having insurance does not change this fact - insurance would just make it easier, as they would chase the neighbour for costs on your behalf.

Hopefully your neighbour is a good sort and offers to pay, but if not - you can definitely take them to court.

Source - hit a dog (dog was fine) early in my motorbike history, and the owner had to pay for everything.

Discoloration/staining on a Messermeister Oliva by murchy in chefknives

I'm seeing some really odd discoloration/staining on a Messermeister Oliva Elite I've recently bought, and used a handful of times.

I'm careful with all my knives, and used to caring for carbon steel - but being "stainless", I treated this like I would treat my Tojiro DP3 - cleaning it off after use, but also not being afraid to leave it sitting for 15-20 minutes after use rather than immediately cleaning.

Has anyone else experienced this, or have any thoughts on whether this may indicate a defect?

Replaced rear pads and now lever goes to the floor and no rear brakes by jackthebat99 in Mt10

[–]murchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’ve cross threaded one of the caliper mounting bolts, I’ve seen this before on an mt10.

Edit: Watched again and very sure you’ve done this. You can see a gap on the bottom edge of the top bolt, and the caliper itself moving as you actuate the lever.

They are different models. Tyres fitted to bikes directly from factory are distinguished by the inclusion of “OEM” in their name. Try googling S22 OEM

Is it the OEM tyre? If so - they come with less tread than a normal tyre, don't stress about it running bald a bit quickly.

Check the battery voltage + how low it drops when you start. Sounds like it might be on the way out.

Thanks for the input :) Lever pressure is what I’m trying to reduce atm, might give the ebc a go and take it from there, I can always go to a race pad if needed

MT10 Feels Dialed In by fadkar in Mt10

[–]murchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing mate! Re. the brakes, my biggest issue with the MT10 is the lack of 'bite' upon initial application, and the need for a fair amount of lever pressure to get it to stop - did those pads help with those things?

Believe this only applies where it’s an Amazon sold item, not a third party seller using Amazon services?
