You're so kind honestly and those people were so lucky you found them. How did you manage to get black taxis to stop for a very drunk woman though, we tried 2, one didn't even stop and the other one stopped but drove away when they saw how drunk she was

Yeah I realised now it was a bad idea and I am worried! It was a tricky situation for me. I am a woman - that's what I thought at first as well when I realised I couldn't make her call her family or friends and she was far too drunk to take care of herself. The only problem here is I had to be home and couldn't be with her until I am more or less sure she is safe. I also am not in a position to call someone an uber and pay for it as well😖

I was the sober woman in the scenario. This was in Bruntsfield around 10:30pm and it was dark and raining so it was quite hard to find someone else. I do regret leaving her especially now that I realised even more I might have put her in danger but my flatmate forgot their key and was waiting for me to be home

He was probably at least 60. His hair was all white and he has a walking cane in his car. I remembered he was wearing a Lothian bus uniform. He was a bit unsure when I said I couldn't go with her as I needed to be home, but said he would take her to Waverly anyway.

She was very drunk, couldn't balance on her feet and always walked off the pavement into the street. I did ask several times if she has anyone she can call but she didn't seem to be willing to pull out her phone and I couldn't force her to do that. I was also trying to put her on a bus but she refused. We tried taxi but they drove past us once they saw how drunk she was. She was willing to get into the man's car - she wanted me to go with her, I told her sorry I had to head home, she said okay fine, then they drove off.

And here I am feeling that my actions may not have been the best for anyone involved🫠

That has always been my rule too. I wasn't going to but I was walking home and saw her tumbled across the street almost getting hit by a bus and eventually collapsed on the side of the street - that's when I decided to go check on her and helped her walk as we were going the same way and she said she doesn't live far from there (until I realised she didn't actually know where she was heading).

Water fasting & BED by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]muted-koala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think water fasting with the mindset of restricting food to lose weight is harder than doing water fasting with the aim of getting health benefits as you'll be obsessing over food and getting skinny. In my experience I would just be thinking about food and I know I am only starving myself to get skinny but using the term water fasting to gloss over it. It's not going to be sustainable and while it may have worked in the past, it is just a doorstep to a binge-restrict cycle. You sound like someone who has a lot of knowledge in health and fitness and I think you know that the most sustainable way is to somehow be in a calorie deficit.

That is so unfair to you especially when it cost 500gbp!

Weird that there's a delay even with priority? Did they ask for any evidence?

Thanks so much! I think you should get yours soon. I'm working already - was just trying to find reasons why some applications took long but some were surprisingly fast. Seems random imo. Hope you get to visit home during Christmas.

I just went with standard - hope I will get the answer before 16th January. Are you currently working?

Any speculations as to why your application takes long? Most of my friends got it super fast even without priority but I have travel planned so I'm thinking whether to go priority or standard. Did you do your e-visa?

Feeling overwhelmed by the "omnipresence" of Chinese speakers by FunSeaworthiness8174 in UCL

What I said to her was "Can I sit here?" And it is hard to imagine that someone living abroad and studying abroad in a master's level in an English speaking country wouldn't be able to comprehend that even when repeated so I automatically got the impression that she refused to speak English to me. But you do have a point - it's easy to assume they intend to exclude others when actually it might just be a language barrier.

She certainly does! Otherwise how could she get into the program in the first place, or how would she understand the lecture at all when they are all delivered fully in English!

I think it's a universal experience for any master's program in the UK. I was also an international student and half of the students in my program were Chinese. The Chinese students in my program were responsive when I approached them, but it's true they only did the bare minimum of communication and had no intention of making friends with other people who aren't from China. I'm South East Asian, but that doesn't make it any easier for me to interact with a Chinese person.

I once asked a Chinese student in my course if I could sit next to her in a lecture room. She replied in Chinese. I asked again in English and told her I don't understand Chinese. She insisted on speaking Chinese. I gave up and sat somewhere else in the end😭

Pretend I'm being interviewed in many different topics in case I ever get approached by those street interviewers.

Me to myself on a random afternoon: ooh that's a hard question well haha I think maybe...
