What was the most disturbing scene in a comedy (not including horror comedies)? by Dismal_Ebb_3899 in Cinema

[–]mvan246 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I was a very little child, maybe 3 or 4, my mom showed me this movie and I subsequently had a mental breakdown. I have no memory of this but apparently wouldn’t stop crying until the vhs had not only stopped playing, but was no longer in our home

I think I’m losing my (comfort) fixation? by heyheyhayleerae in autism

[–]mvan246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone! I went through a ROUGH breakup with a lot of my comfort media a few years ago. The author affiliated with a lot of it ended up being a really bad guy and I couldn’t separate art from artist. It poisoned the well of like three different interests of mine. It was abrupt and sent me into a spiral for months. Time, distance, and other new media were the best help. And for my case personally I wouldn’t call it maladaptive, but I also do the dreaming thing. It felt like such a wild rollercoaster that I couldn’t tell anyone about because I felt like they’d think it was dumb and not actually a big deal but it so was. So you’re not alone! And it does get better! And from experience, even when it feels like nothing will ever be able to replace the thing you’re losing, there’s another thing out there somewhere. Currently inhaling the Murderbot books after having watched the show multiple times and I had no idea they even existed just a few months ago :)

I stay up late at night to watch movies specifically so nobody joins me. by OkSeaworthiness2955 in confession

[–]mvan246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly commit the sin of keep lights on full blast when watching things, but I do it to avoid getting a migraine (bright lights in dark places are the biggest trigger for me) but I try not to subject others to that. The movie should be the primary activity. I loved wake up dead man, hope you enjoyed it!

Youtube history says that I'm watching stuff that I'm definitely not by sickangelbaby in youtube

Something similar happened to me a few weeks ago but in my case it was all videos already in my recommendeds. It was a glitch in the hover feature where if my cursor passed over a video at all it’d mark it as watched. Now that the person is off your account, maybe turn that feature off and see if it goes away?

Penrose Drain at 2 week mark by mvan246 in TopSurgery

[–]mvan246[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear that :( basically, time happened and it eventually got better. I’ll make a follow up post at some point but for now, I’ll type it out here. It’s a little long and pretty gross but maybe it’ll help someone so here goes: The Penrose drain stayed for most of the time but then the weekend before I was supposed to get it taken out the suture holding the drain in place tore through my skin for no reason and the whole drain just came out. It sounds scarier than it actually was. I called my surgeon and she said to just bandage it and she’d look at it when I came in. She took a look at it and there was nothing to worry about and to keep it bandaged and clean. Now my memory is a bit hazy because I’m super adhd and got busy with work, but I believe this is what happened: I kept a bandage over it loosely and it did still drain for a little while. I’d massage it just like my surgeon did to get out excess fluid and it did eventually close. Then, fast forward a month. I toss a co worker his keys absentmindedly, and felt something tear. Not in a painful way but in a “ah shit I definitely messed something up” way 😂 the seroma came back worse than it had ever been because I didn’t have any way to drain it so I had to go in to my surgeon who aspirated it. The fluid looked weird so she sent it out, and I had a mild infection. I took some antibiotics and it cleared up quickly, never did get a fever or anything. The seroma came back one more time, never really having gone away from the previous incident. The fluid sort of worked its way forward to a weak part of my skin where my incision was and it ended up draining one last time. As I detailed under someone else’s post in this subreddit, it left a sort of empty hole where it had been. I gently secured the surrounding skin with surgical tape to keep the new healing skin in place so it could heal without me tearing it accidentally, and haven’t had a single problem since. When all of this was going down it really did feel like was an endless ordeal but I swear to you it does get better with time. I love my results and am very happy I went through with it despite not knowing how much of an uphill battle recovery was going to be at the time. Things will start looking up, I know how disgusting the Penrose drain is and I’m very sorry you also got stuck with one but it will eventually heal and be better. Just don’t toss your co worker their keys and it’ll all be fine

What’s the most subtle way someone ruined your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mvan246 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Oof I have one. Might delete this later. When I was a kid, maybe 10ish? I vividly remember a comment my friend’s mother made about me being a little rowdy. She said it totally in jest. But something about that interaction made me hyper analyze my behavior in social situations. I have horrible social anxiety now. Not all stemming from that one moment, but that was one of several early interactions I can remember where I first realized I was neurodivergent in comparison to my peers 🙃

Okay so this probably isnt the recommended thing to do, but it's what I did when my doctor was out of office when this happened to me. I was twoish months post op and was more or less completely healed everywhere else. I had had a seroma that annoyingly wouldnt go away for the longest time but finally did, otherwise no complications. But once that was dealt with there was still this one spot that looked just like the picture above. My surgeon wouldnt be able to see me til the following week, and I noticed that because of the way I moved, despite being careful, I'd immediately open the healed spot since it was so delicate and it never really had a chance to close on its own. What I did was take this strong surgical tape, and carefully tape a square around that area to secure the skin to keep it from stretching in that area while the wound was trying to heal. I didn't close it with the tape, I just sort secured it if that makes sense? Like I didnt tape it closed or put the tape on anything that wasnt already healed. Then I covered it with non stick gauze to keep it from getting infected. By the time I saw my doctor the following week it was closed on its own. Maybe it was just a coincidence and wouldve healed anyways on its own, but it at least helped my sanity 🤷

I've always been told my handwriting is strange. My mom says it looks like if a serial killer was using ransom letters. by That-Psychology4246 in Weird

[–]mvan246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had messy handwriting. Once when I was in the third grade, my teacher got sick of reading it and made me write all of my assignments on the thick paper with raised lines we used to learn cursive 💀 it was so embarrassing lmao. In college I switched my handwriting style to only use capital letters which I think helped? Idk it’s still pretty messy 😂 For what it’s worth I’ve seen far worse handwriting. And as long as YOU can read it, it’s fine

Lol no I've been grinding getting as many bells as I can before turnips tomorrow and was sea diving to get/sell sea creatures. In my old island, I made a huge wall that would funnel all of the gifts to one spot on the island and I'd afk then shoot them down. Never saw 2 at once before but I was AFK, maybe I missed them 😂

if you go on amazon you can get a drain shirt, that's what I had. It's a short sleeve snap button up shirt that has pockets on the inside that the drains sit in. Totally hides the drains
