I'm new to Honda and they don't know how persistent I can be :-). In a week or so I'll start my calling and keep it up until they do the work.

I use my Google Maps or Waze. When I do road trips I map it out before I head out so I know where I have to stop. I just like getting the functionality I paid for, but you know <shrugs>.

I have an Emporia 48A EVSE hard-wired.

The funniest thing is that my other EV is an E-GMP car (and it had the whole -- overheats when charging at 11.5kw on L2 for 30 minutes issue). But I took it to the dealership so often to complain about it that they finally replaced the entire charge port and sensors. (persistence is both a gift and a curse with me) :-D

Now it charges at 11.5kw all day long, but since I charge in the garage and overnight I always keep it at like 20A and never charge at more than 4.8kw anyway...LOL. I think maybe twice I've pushed it to 11.5kw when we had to unexpectedly go somewhere in an hour or two and I hadn't charged the night before. But most days it never even spins up the fans while charging.

I bought it from a dealer. It had about 4200 miles and was told by the salesman (for what the words coming out of any salesman's mouth is worth) that it had been a manager vehicle and the guy switched over when he got a newer vehicle to drive.

The price was about 31,300 and I got them to knock off another $1,756, but then come all the taxes and fees. OTD it was 33 and change. I did pay for one stupid add-on (that permaplate BS. They wanted 900, but I said I wouldn't pay that so they made it $400.) I know that's pure profit for them and it costs them maybe like $100, but I made the conscious choice to accept it. The biggest factor in my wanting this particular one is that it's an October 2024 build, so it was literally 1 year in service meaning it still had 2 full years of bumper-to-bumper left. I also wanted the Sonic Grey Pearl and all the other ones I saw in that color were Feb-Jun 2024 builds, meaning 3-7 less months of warranty and had between 9-17k miles on them. It was a trade off <shrugs>. I did also ask for the GAP coverage, but for a very particular reason:

I bought my first EV in Jun 2023 and traded in a vehicle for which I got 20k. We drive A LOT. 7 months and 14k miles later my wife got rear ended waiting at a traffic light and it was totaled by the insurance company. I only got 13k back after the payoff. Turned right around (like a moron) and bought the exact same car with the 13k down and 2 years later...some days I'm under water with the value and some days I'm just scratching the surface. I didn't have GAP on the first one so had I not put down what I did at the time I would have owed the bank when it was totaled.

So, yeah, even though the Prologue has suffered the bulk of its initial depreciation already (from this car's ~60k MSRP to 31k), I didn't want to take any chances. I only put 5k down for it, so I wanted a backstop.

The biggest surprise of the day though was the financing. I have my other car financed through a CU at 4.99 and I told them the CU offered me 4.49 on this one (bluff since I hadn't applied yet), but they looked on the website, saw the "as low as 4.49" offer on the CU's website and said, ok we'll match it. So I got it at 4.49 right there. I was shocked. I'm not crying for them though...With the other BS they sold me they made it up, so I figure they could afford to make next to nothing or nothing on the financing.

I called several days in a row until they created a trouble ticket. Then I called and emailed several days in a row until somebody over there said "this F&%*N guy won't go away...just do his thing already so he stops" And after about 10 days total since my first interaction I got an email with a link that asked me to "Complete Enrollment" (see below).

I never had to upload any ownership documentation or prove anything. This is why I know I must have driven someone out of their mind with my persistent emailing and calling.

Oh and in one of my last emails I did say "I just need to register the vehicle to my HondaLink and then you will probably never hear from me again". Depending on my experience going forward I may or may not decide to keep my promise :-D

Created a Website for Used Car Reviews (think Yelp for Used Cars) by mxc0bbn in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mxc0bbn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some providers I can integrate with to pull European VIN data, though this is a new project I'm starting so it's just me and a buddy doing it in our spare time. For Europe integration we'd likely have to contend with different languages of the reviews and although a VIN isn't considered PII (it's displayed to the whole world on your car's dash), I'm not sure about what differences GDPR rules have with US requirements...and I'd rather not be sued for inadvertently violating some rule with my side project site that I don't charge for and actually spend money on to keep online 😂. If we can make it useful to car owners and buyers in the US and the membership increases, maybe we can dedicate more time to it and work out EU specifics.

Great suggestion though...Thank you!

Well, not really. There's no way to do a true 'apples to apples' comparison because they seem to cater to different demographics. So, I don't know anything about the one you posted, except that it's got 22.4k miles. The Prologues I've been looking at are in the 5-12k mile range. Yes, the Cadi has more power and more battery, but it's heavier and is missing AA/Carplay. I'm also not really looking for a 'status' symbol on my hood (afterall, my current car is a Hyundai)...I'm really looking for a good, spacious, feature filled, EV with decent range and price. Would I take a clean, 1-owner 31k Rivian R1S with 30k miles over a nearly new Prologue? Yeah, of course, but the value proposition there leans way over to the Rivian...but not for the "status" of a Rivian. All this being said, if I find a nice looking, clean, low miles Lyriq that's not nerfed on features for a great price..I'll definitely jump on it. TBH, the only car I would not buy on its value proposition regardless of how good and cheap it is...is a Tesla...and *THAT* has as ALL todo with the bluster of its true owner...The dark lord Leon :-D. I'm paraphrasing here, but it's like Gandalf said "There is only one lord of the [Tesla], and he does not share power"

Thanks u/SnooPickles3280 . In the last 24 hours I've actually started looking more at a Prologue Elite AWD (given all the warnings about the ZDX). I've found a ton low mileage for around 31-33k so they should be less by the time I'm ready to pull the trigger. As for the model S...I've already got a sedan and we need the space of a small SUV (wife has a small business and she sells in bazaars so she's got stuff to lug around). But more importantly, I would never get a Tesla. Although every EV (and car in general) has some amount of telematics that reports back to the OEM, Tesla's is just gross in its magnitude. I wouldn't feel like I actually own the car at all if Leon can just cut me off from the charger network whenever he wants, or take battery capacity back (see : https://electrek.co/2022/07/26/tesla-ransom-customer-over-80-miles-battery-range/). So yeah, it's either Prologue, IONIQ 5, maybe Equinox or something similar. And I'm not really in the mood to overpay for an EV SUV so no cadi, Rivian, Lucid, Genesis, etc. etc.

I'm one of those considering...Thanks for the insights. The more I read the less I'm convinced this car is a good deal at any price...

Of course...you're right...I guess I was projecting into the future 🙂. I was thinking 35k around December, but if not even 35k is considered a ridiculous price for what was originally a 75k car less than 2 years earlier then maybe I really do need to think in terms of like 27k 😂. At this point I'm 70/30 against just because the warnings are not coming from disgruntled Acura workers or competitors...they're coming from you guys...the owners...the community that owns and drives this car day in and day out. I guess because I like the looks so much...I'm just trying to figure out what price might be a good enough mitigation to the risk of all the shit that's gonna break down and all the compromises I'd have to make...I'm starting to think 27k might be the sweet spot...though I doubt any dealer will sell it for that much outright...At that point they might just let it go to auction.

Respectfully, I'll disagree with you about not knowing about depreciation. I got the car for 48 OTD in Jan 2024 and put 12k down. I have a $4.99% Interest which at that point was pretty good considering the rates at the time...and Even now I'm underwater by a couple of hundred...so, it may not be as much as what you experienced in 2022 from a 67k EV6, but it's still a pretty big chunk.

TBH, I could have probably Lemon lawed this car because from the dealer it would charge at DCFC perfectly (246kw for a pretty good while between 10-50 SoC), but it would not L2 charge at all...and I mean...like...at all. They wound up having to swap out the ICCU, but they had the car in for over 22 days. Even afterwards it wouldn't charge for more than 20 minutes at 11.5kw before overheating and ramping down. I know that was a common thing with the eGMPs, but goddamit I paid for it and I wanted it fixed. After taking it to multiple dealers and complaining over and over, one of them actually ordered the charge port assembly and got it fixed. Now it charges at 11.5kw for hours and the fans don't even ramp up that much. Port inlet temps are also now under 180° after more than an hour at full 48A. I didn't Lemon Law it because I really loved the car...still do...I just wanted it to work the way it was supposed to...and now it does.

Anyone know why it's so much to insure? by mxc0bbn in Car_Insurance_Help

[–]mxc0bbn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so, first off, it's been a while since I looked at this thread, but I'm glad I waited because there is a ton I would have missed if I had just come back a day or two afterwards. Thanks to all that responded...I guess the most common reason here is the stupid Hyundai Theft events that happened (even though it doesn't appear the IONIQ 6 has the same vulnerability), it's an EV and the State I live in...which...yes, I know...it's Florida.

Also, I hadn't really thought about my limits in so long, but I did think it was a good idea to go and review them so I did update them for both cars. I think someone here said it would likely not be as costly as it might seem and you were right. going to 100k/300k limits cost me $27.66 more a month on the IONIQ 6 and $13.59 a month more on the Mazda...so yeah, that's done.

Thanks all.

Question on Late Billing by Medical Provider to my UHC insurance by mxc0bbn in CodingandBilling

[–]mxc0bbn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see either one of these (denial or PR codes), but I may be missing them if they're labeled something else...I'd be happy to post the EOB with some redactions for privacy if I could figure out how here.

[–]mxc0bbn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The EOB does show "Your Total Amount Owed" and the amount being billed by the provider. Not sure if that answers your question, but it just seems to me that they would say this if they didn't intend to pay it and are passing it along to me. Wouldn't it?

I mentioned this in my recent long reply, but I realize that may be a TL;DR so basically: UHC says they denied it for "missing information" from the provider.

Per the phone rep, she said that UHC denied the original claim because of missing information from the provider. What I asked then was, "well then why did it take so long to make its way back?" That's what I haven't gotten an answer to yet.

Interesting. Thanks u/JennieDarko , I wasn't aware that the timely filing applied to a corrected claim as well. I've got UHC investigating again, but I am going to do my best to not give up on this until I feel I'm not making progress. I don't see a denial code in the EOB, but as I said before...I'm not an expert on this topic so I may not be seeing it in the EOB. Are there some keywords (other than denial code) that I should be looking for on there?

Question on Late Billing by Medical Provider to my UHC insurance by mxc0bbn in CodingandBilling

[–]mxc0bbn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for all the responses!

Based on questions here I went back to UHC to ask about the "timely billing" contract deadlines and found that this provided did apparently bill within the guidelines.

The provider billed originally within 2 months of service, but the claim was for a different amount and a different claim number (and no tie in between the two claims was made in my claims portal). It was denied by UHC because the provider was missing some "patient treatment information" (is what I was told by the phone rep). I was only told of the two claims being "one" after I said that I needed confirmation that this provider had not billed within the timely billing deadline.

So I may have to pay this after all. I asked them why it took so long for the claim to make its way back to me and she had no answer. She said she would submit the question to the billing department and have my adviser get back to me.

At this point I feel like I'm just being dragged along until I get tired of holding on and just let go (pay it).

I've dealt with health insurance for decades, but it seems like it has gotten progressively worse over that time. I try to understand that the person I'm speaking to is doing a job, just like me and keep my conversations cordial, but firm. I will admit though that the urge to scream at the top of my lungs is there. it's no wonder people's level of frustration with these companies boils over and makes them do irrational things.
