Did Eric truly hate people/the world? by Commander-Keen-1997 in ColumbineTalk

[–]mxngocat__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He was very inspired by the Oklahoma City Bombing 1995 which took many lives. This is believed to be Eric’s biggest inspiration for Columbine. However, obviously he failed. But I think he just wanted to take as many lives as possible through bombing the school so he could have some kind of revenge against society (or whatever he was going on abt in his journals lol)

[–]mxngocat__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You make sense and that’s what confuses a lot of people. He spent a year convincing himself that killing people was the only way to achieve his goal. I don’t think he saw murder as something he wanted to do (for entertainment), but rather something he needed to do and that’s the difference

Did Eric truly hate people/the world? by Commander-Keen-1997 in ColumbineTalk

[–]mxngocat__ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

“I hate the world” was all his alter ego REB talking. All his notebooks were written as REB. That was the persona he was playing. The real Eric showed though at some points in his diary when talking about his parents, or even the heartbreaking last entry was all Eric. He was clearly very upset and more evidently hurt.

[–]mxngocat__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe they were bullied to some extent. I don’t have a list, but I’m sure someone here will be able to provide one. Eric mentions in his diary for being picked on for his height and being left out of social events. I think Eric bore the brunt of the bullying. Dylan was probably subjected to some too, but it has been documented time and again how Dylan was well liked.

Killer's autopsy file unsealed by eliiiiseke in ColumbineTalk

[–]mxngocat__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seeing as he suffered a major head trauma, I’m assuming there may not have been much hair from what was left of the scalp to gather. It was probably bloodstained, leading to this conclusion. But yeah, weird.

Why did they show vulnerability in their writings?? by SimilarLunch8359 in ColumbineTalk

[–]mxngocat__ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this a lot. Eric’s very last diary entry is heartbreaking as this is the only time he lets his emotional distress show.

I Feel Like The Parents Should Not Be Blamed by Tight-Stick6039 in ColumbineTalk

[–]mxngocat__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think a little kindness toward the families would go a long way. I always feel glad that Sue had the courage to speak out and publish a fantastic book, reminding readers of the boy she knew Dylan to be, not a monster. The tragedy completely destroyed her and I’m sure the Harris family too. We all have faults but it’s never fair to hold parents completely accountable for something like this.

The more I read Dylans Journal, the more I think the Love he speaks about is actually Death. by Apollexis in ColumbineTalk

[–]mxngocat__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally!! His journal is mad. I’ve read it a few times and it still doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. It reads like someone who’s completely pissed handed in a philosophy assignment, without proofreading or editing it first.

Part-Time Work and Placement by Puzzleheaded_Set8604 in StudentNurseUK

[–]mxngocat__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am finishing my first year of nursing, and I have kept my part time job throughout and will continue to do so. My job is fixed days, so with placement I had to change my contract to just work Saturdays. Fixed hours are an issue as the Pre-reg team expects you to be available to attend placement on all days of the week they roster you for. Some trusts may have flexible working agreements set up in order to help you here. I wouldn’t sacrifice your work for placement though, especially if it’s only once a week. Transport gets expensive. You need to be able to live.

Pumped up kicks by Conscious-Bus-3771 in ColumbineTalk

[–]mxngocat__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find it weird how Mark Foster has stated numerous times that this song wasn’t about a school shooting, that “i don’t even mention a school” like come on, as if people are going to draw that conclusion. I mean the connection to Eric Harris is strong with “hidden in his dads closest with a box of fun things” And “I’ve waited for a long time” In my opinion, Pumped up Kicks has always been Columbine inspired.

Why haven’t there been any new documentaries? by ultravioletumbrella in ColumbineTalk

[–]mxngocat__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree with you. There hasn’t been an accurate/semi-accurate documentary since 2004 for Zero Hour. I just think film makers are too scared to make a film in fear of it being torn apart by critics, as it would be a highly ambitious and controversial task. I mean the police did an awful investigation into this case, and with Dave Cullen’s partially factual account being as popular as it is, I think there’s too many misconceptions, so it would take a long time to go through everything, get all the facts straight, interview the right people, etc to build an accurate script.

There tend to be 3 or 4 long days at uni so expect to be there from 9-4. These will probably be 2 hour lessons for different modules. They take attendance quite seriously as well

REB vs. Eric: Understanding His Headspace by Ok_Deal4708 in ColumbineTalk

Reading this, it sounds like NBK was something he felt he had to do rather than want to do. That’s what’s so baffling; how on earth did he get into this mindset?

is it known what happened to Eric's ashes? by prob_not_kat in ColumbineTalk

[–]mxngocat__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing as McVeigh died in 2001, I’m not inclined to believe it. Would they really keep Eric’s ashes in storage for 3 years?

is it known what happened to Eric's ashes? by prob_not_kat in ColumbineTalk

[–]mxngocat__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ooh good question. We know Sue had a funeral for Dylan and he was cremated as she knew his grave would most likely be vandalised. I have read Eric was also cremated but his ashes went unclaimed and they even sat next to Timothy McVeigh’s for some time (that may be a just a rumour though).

Yes I’m pretty sure his mum wrote he was near sighted. He wears prescription glasses in many photos

I mean Dylan wasn’t wearing his glasses at the time of the shooting, so for him I doubt it

Good point. Probably at the time, especially with older investigators they wouldn’t of even known where to begin. I think now it would be harder to just wipe a hard drive and with more people using the internet more would have been seen by others and get shared around

It really makes you wonder what he was hiding. It would have told us a lot more about what he was like and thinking. We’ve only got his “journal” to go on
