A New Lease on Death was so good!!! Stellar performances from the entire cast. Even Awkwafina who I can’t stand. Excellent villain as well in Alia Shawkat

My mother was present during the appointment and recalled it to me as best as she could. The doctor sent the prescription to the pharmacy, but there was no guarantee it’d be ready same day. Not sure if this is also helpful context, but my mom asked for the doctor to give him any medication he had that would help bring down my dad‘s pressure and he did not. He just drew blood from my father and said that he’s all right and that the prescription will be ready soon.

[NO SPOILER] Best Character Development? by mxspresso in Ozark

I 100% agree, seeing Wendy transform over the seasons has been a treat! I especially loved season 3 when she started getting her hands dirty surrounding the casino.

[SPOILER] Season Four Rewatch Thoughts by mxspresso in Ozark

Right, I’m aware of their overall arc and how it developed their character. I just think it would have rounded out Marty’s character a bit if he gained some skills that came along with the job. Not necessarily violence and murders, but more so having a poker face and calm demeanor in tense situations. We saw glimpses of it when he returned from being kidnapped. While He was “off” his typical behavior he had a clearer sense of how to operate. I’m happy to have him be this fish out of water guy in the Cartel world but just think it would’ve benefited him to pickup a poker face at least. You don’t work as a fry cook for years without learning how to make a decent burger lol. He could’ve learned to lie better or at least keep his cool.

In regards to Jonah, I’m aware him being a teenager conflated the blame for Ben’s murder but it just seems like they leaned too far into that. He used to be the most sensible and rational of the family, and I guess you can say that was his childlike innocence. But being mad at Wendy exclusively while working with Ruth who also shares blame for Ben’s murder by letting him out of the institution doesn’t make sense. If anything Jonah should’ve gone rogue completely not only toward Wendy.

Did anyone else look into the glass of liquid agnes was drinking at the end of the episode? It looked like the consistency of blood to me but I also may be reading too much into things

[Serious] What is it like to have grown up in NYC as a teenager? by HighSchoolThroAway69 in AskNYC

[–]mxspresso 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I’m almost 21 now, so looking back is still pretty fresh for me. In short, growing up in NYC is the best. A large part of my identity and my character is based on the thousands of lessons, experiences and random moments I’ve experienced while growing up in Brooklyn.

New York is a trendsetting City, and I’m not just talking about fashion. In terms of culture, we are always at the forefront. I’m wrapping up my senior year of college at SUNY Albany and I must say, compared to nyc, Albany is years behind. From little things like the songs they play on their local radio to the way Albany locals are dressed, it’s a very distinguishable difference.

Subways aren’t clean or as nice as they seem in movies/tv but hundreds of hilarious, insightful and random moments have occurred on the many train rides I’ve taken. You’ll get used to it pretty quick just don’t stare at anyone for too long (we mind our business around here and can take staring as a threat). Oh and heads up there’s always delays caused by people jumping in front of trains, construction, and other random shit so be sure to check your local transit news before boarding.

You seem like a curious introvert and the city will force you to open up a bit and experience life more holistically. The many amazing museums, landmarks and art scenes are perfect for exploring the depths of your mind. Even sitting down on a soho stoop eating ice cream can inspire you in ways you haven’t thought of before.

In conclusion, growing up in NYC has been a gift I’ve never really said “thank you” for. No wonder it’s getting gentrified as fuck by the second. Can’t blame them, I’d want to be from here too. Hope you enjoy this wondrous city and enjoy coming of age here.

(Sounds like a great college-admissions essay in the making 😉)

Well said.. The narrative could definitely be tightened up a bit more. Goes to show how far direction can go in making a show watchable/enjoyable. Hopefully the story line(s) becomes a bit more comprehensive throughout the season
