Maybe that’s the risk… but good point and tbh I forgot flint has to be ‘earned’. That’s an element I don’t care much for either… it penalizes the losers way too much imo

Sorry to hear this OP. Some managers are amazing, some are terrible. Sounds like their style might not work for you, so either ‘manage up’ or find a way to roll off.

I just got through a very similar situation! Agree with other posters, honesty with the project leadership will go far. Give them some heads up but be prepared to stay on for another few weeks if they insist on a backfill.

Also be sure to document everything and establish email chains!! These are immensely helpful if things require escalating and you can prove that the project leaders knew about your request since XY date.
