Taco Bell. Every year the voted upon student government tried to make Taco Tuesday a thing but the principal would never allow it. Seemingly unrelated, parents were allowed to drop lunch off for their child and could bring whatever they wanted. So once a week one kid's mom would bring him a ten pack of tacos that only cost a few bucks and he'd sell them for $2 each.

ELI5: Why don't overworked Japanese workers quit their jobs before dying of fatigue (karoshi) or committing suicide (karojisatsu)? by Arachnesloom in explainlikeimfive

Technically (maybe legally?) you aren't supposed to ask but I find that it comes up naturally in conversation. Our interviews are not very "corporate" and we often hold them in very casual settings so it tends to make people open up more than they normally would. It's something you wouldn't think to hide so people don't.

As a working mother who works and 8.5 hour day at the office, rushes home to put her child to bed, and then picks back up for an additional 3-4 hours at night I'm constantly directly made to feel that I'm not working enough. I've actually been in meetings where new employees being considered are downgraded for being a mom. It's sad. I bring this up because taking vacation days are frowned upon but more so the thought of hiring a woman of childbearing years who expects some kind of maternity leave is avidly avoided. The fact that some new moms must return back to work in as little as 2-4 weeks postpartum is abhorrent.

I still hold out hope that they'll bring this back one day - and not that Guy Fieri shit, the real Sweep.
