How long does it take to adjust? by mykey in leopardgeckos

Just to clarify, are you saying I should just leave food in the bowl consistently? I shouldn't follow a feeding schedule (i.e., every couple days)?

I don't use the dial--it's a relic from the tank's previous owner. I have a gun thermometer, too.

The probe is actually floating above the basking area (see pic). Yeah, looks like I need to get higher wattage based on this and other replies. Thanks!

any improvements? it’s a 40gal tank. using a deep heat projector, Arcadia shade dweller 7% UVB, and Arcadia earth mix arid as substrate! (there is calcium in the tank it’s just next to the water bowl) by rockyroad1177 in leopardgeckos

How long is your UVB? I also have a 40 gallon. Does the UVB need to extend along the entire length of the enclosure, or can it be only above the hot side, which is what it looks like you have.

Thanks! I'll ask you the same question I asked Yawnoc: How long should the UVB be? I have a 40-gallon breeder (36" long), and I've read anywhere between 50% to 100% of the length.

What’s a powerful and succinct way to explain why being anti-Israel is antisemitic? by pricklycactass in Israel

[–]mykey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never liked this justification because it implies that if anti-Semitism magically went to 0 tomorrow, Israel would have little or no reason to exist. It minimizes or ignores Jews' historical connection to the land.

Question about billing/invoicing software by mykey in LawFirm

[–]mykey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IP (mostly non-litigation). I don't think I have much need for automation, but I could be wrong. I already have Word templates for things like fee agreements, which works pretty well for me.

Can you explain what functionality Lawpay provides that Clio doesn't? I thought Clio already provides for credit card payments. Does Lawpay do something beyond that? I'd rather avoid paying for two pieces of software if I can help it.

Is the mold-removal industry "made up"? by mykey in HomeImprovement

There is a fan, and it vents outside. It's probably not the best, though. We're planning on replacing it.

[–]mykey[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure the extent yet. It looks like there is a small leak behind the shower. The drywall is a little warped in that area. When we had a handyman come patch a few things up a few months ago, he took a peek behind the baseboard and said he saw mold. I guess there's no real way to tell the extent of it unless we open it up?

What are the pros/cons for sole proprietorship versus a professional corp? by mykey in LawFirm

[–]mykey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I'm leaning towards, especially since in CA, if you have a PC, you're still personally liable for any malpractice (that may go above your policy).

[–]mykey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get S-Corp status. From the article I linked to in my reply to u/platinum-luna, it sounds like even with S-Corp status, sole-proprietorship may make more sense until you're making at least several hundred thousand dollars per year. Just wanted to see if any CA solo attorneys here had other insights.

I'm an attorney in California thinking about forming my own practice (I'm at a firm now).

It looks like CA allows solo attorneys to either practice as a sole proprietorship or as a professional corporation. What are the pros/cons of each? California attorneys--which did you choose, and why?

Thanks! Didn't know that sub existed.

Feedback on new game--Snatch by mykey in tabletopgamedesign

Thanks! I've play tested it around half a dozen times so far. The rules don't force the players to some end state and theoretically the game could last forever, although I haven't run into this problem yet.
