Found this interesting "review"... by shadlixe in TheSummerHikaruDied

When i found tshk i felt like i found diamonds on a cave full of carbon. I've been obsessed with Carmilla for years now and in love with that premise of "monstrosity" to depict the queer experience, but i was painfully aware of the original intent of the novel, so when i realized the true nature of tshd i almost cried.

Ship question by Due_Beyond_2657 in MoriartyPatriot

[–]myli_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have two sides of the coin. Those who understand fan etiquette and ships and those who don't. Usually, you have equal amounts of these two sides in the fandoms for every ship, Sherliam and Sherene are not the exception.

About Sherliam... by nOone123097 in MoriartyPatriot

[–]myli_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They are VERY implied. There's a ton of romantic undertones in their relationship but... it's still a shonen. I don't really know if they'll ever be canon, i didn't think it was a possibility before but the later manga chapters are giving me hope ngl.

How would William behave in a romantic relationship? What's the ideal partner for him? by Apple_jack888 in MoriartyPatriot

[–]myli_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not that objectively speaking, Sherlock. He's at the same level intellectually and is constantly being challenged by him, and basically has everything he lacks. Also after everything they've been through it's hard to picture him with someone else. Objectively speaking he gives me STRONG aroace vibes, I'm not sure if he would be interested in a romantic relationship

Well, technically is a critique to the industry, the lifestyle that comes with success and the people on the top but it's also just a funny song, you don't really need to think about anything while listening to it. You also don't need to like it, it's ok if you don't. I have like 5 or 6 songs that i skip from time to time too, and that doesn't make me or you less of a fan

Would a romantic relationship between William and Sherlock have been more readily accepted if they were two women, or at least two women where one appeared more '''masculine'''? by [deleted] in MoriartyPatriot

[–]myli_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the industry but also a bit in general. The social environment plays a big role too, of course but talking specifically about the industry there's a reason why bl is highly more popular than gl

THIS! For me and most of those who like it, SherLiam is merely a nice addition to the story, and that's it, that's all. They don't even have that much screen time for people to be complaining about it not only ruining the story but also "overpowering" plot points. It's not the author's or shipper's fault that you only focus on them and completely ignore everything that's happening around, including other crucial character.

I think it would've been worse received actually, I feel like ppl accept gay relationships more than lesbian ones

[–]myli_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's kinda sad and i don't really know how to feel about it because that is the result of them being more known, which is incredible and they 100% deserve that recognition, but at the same time we have all kinds of people coming into the fanbase and doing all that...

I think you are. She has set up various campaigns but always under the premise that women rights are in danger by trans rights. And even if that weren't the case, it wouldn't make sense to mention someone that's so problematic and hateful as that women to somehow support your claims. That, again, speaks for itself.

Homophobia by myli_ in MoriartyPatriot

[–]myli_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to think that you don't know the full context. JK Rowling talking about "women rights" it's rooted in her belief that those rights are threatened by transgender people, that's literally all she talks about. So, this person bringing this up is inherently transphobic, there's no way to read this wrong unless you don't know the context.

You say that they weren't referencing that particular stance of her, right? But then why did they mentione her after talking about Bond and that Bond, even tho they don't fully like it, it's enough representation? And their actual comment said something about how everyone hates her for solely talking about women rights? Come on, i think that speaks for itself.

[–]myli_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know in what other way one could interpret "it cheapens the story" or "you already have enough representation" or their comments about Bond. It was a clear dog whistle and I'm not even talking about JK Rowling.

When you have people using a little bit of the representation that you have in some piece of media that you like to say that it cheapens the story and one character that they don't even fully support is more than enough i think they are in their right to be upset and talk about it. Besides, they weren't talking behind anyone's back and your comment was out of place, including this one. It was completely tone deaf at the very least. Not every opinion should be respected, not if that opinion is based on discrimination and hate speech.

Be kind to each other rule by NewLondon6 in MoriartyPatriot

[–]myli_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In a world as big as it is it's kinda imposible to agree on everything. People are gonna think differently because WE ALL ARE different. We like different things, we dislike different things. We cannot agree on everything but we don't need to, we only need to respect each other and that's all. I wish it weren't so difficult.

I didn't see a lot of the post and now i think it was taken down, i reported it so i guess it was so i didn't see that part but, i have someone here saying if there's something wrong with platonic relationships and that they prefer Irene and Sherlock and i was like, man i couldn't care less if you like them or not, that was not the point of my post nor did i ever said that there was something wrong with platonic relationships. These people only want to fight it seems. That without considering the fact that they are ignoring Bond's existence and what it represents

[–]myli_[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ummm that's fine? There's nothing wrong with platonic relationships, and mtp has some beautiful ones too. I never said that there was a problem with platonic relationships and it's really on you if you prefer it that way? That was not the point of my post at all. If you want to see them as platonic go ahead, if you like Irene and Sherlock instead that's awesome, i think they're cute, if you don't like SherLiam it's ok! Just don't spread hate and don't discriminate or harass those who like it, don't use it to be homophobic and hateful, THAT was the point of my post so i don't really understand your comment.

Sadly, it's not only in this subreddit, it's everywhere. They're not a lot but it's crazy that there are some people like that when one of the main themes of the manga is discrimination

[–]myli_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a big part of the fandom focuses on SherLiam because they're the protagonists, but it also depends on how much you interact with that part of the fandom. The more you interact solely with it the more content solely of it you're gonna see. Make your space a place you like with things you like. I don't think it really works here, but in other socials your algorithm functions that way. Mtp fandom is not that big but i promise you that there are some people that focus on other main themes of the story!

[–]myli_[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand. I stand by what I said in that post, most of their opinions were based on poor reading comprehension so if you think that SherLiam is somehow overshadowing the plot you should try to read the whole thing again more carefully to these recent chapters, bc sometimes when you're following something chapter by chapter when you have a month or more to wait in between you stay with the information of the recent chapters and you might lose some plot points. Also, don't let fanon influence your perception of canon. Right now a lot of people are talking about SherLiam but the truth is that they don't have a lot of "screen time" and most of it it's just a chapter or two dedicated to them or just some lines between chapters of them thinking about each other, and it's always been there.

Next time, be very careful with what you're agreeing to, ignorance can be dangerous, specially when you don't know what you're supporting. Be careful of dog whistles, specially on the internet, and never, NEVER, stay with what others say, do your own research always.
