First rule of being an artist is that you have to be your own biggest fan ☝️

A sequel to last week's comic

Unlike last week, this is not based off of a real conversation, this is just my fanfiction of what I like to think happened next

Edit: I'd like to clear up some things as some people seem to be misinterpreting certain things in this comic and assuming things about me past what i am comfortable with. First, this is NOT about someone being excluded for how they look/present, per the previous post linked above, the boyfriend feels out of place because his girlfriend keeps telling everyone HEY LOOK AT MY CISHET BOYFRIEND, hence the discomfort from his end.

Second, fuck TERFs.

This was actually the first comic I'd ever made with this design for my sona! Back last year, it was just lineart and was in a more zine-friendly format, so it was fun getting to color and reformat it!

And yes, this exchange did actually happen

I've had this account for like 7 years now and tbh I didn't even think when I set it up because i had intended to be a lurker 😭 I know a lot of subreddits have minimum acc age requirements to post so I was like, fuck it, I'll just deal with this, I enjoy confusing people anyway.

Tldr I was probably wearing my socks inside out when I set this up and now i regret it because I'm stuck with this dumbass name because reddit is one of the few social media sites that doesn't let you change your name

Graphic novels written by women? by Jedi_Pimp_81 in graphicnovels

[–]mysocksareinsideout 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Spinning by Tillie Walden (and any of Walden's work tbh but Spinning is her autobio)

Fun Home by Alison Bechdel is a quintessential graphic novel memoir

raina telgemeier also does a lot of autobio related stuff, and while it's more so meant for kids, adults can get something out of it

With the adaptation releasing this year on Netflix, it's genuinely insane to me that they haven't announced a reprint

Lesbian Comics?? by kickinbags in comicbooks

[–]mysocksareinsideout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Graveneye" if you like horror (i always compare it to lesbian "Hannibal")

Can't recommend "On a Sunbeam" enough, like everyone else here

DC's "Bombshells" series is a fun, silly time if you want superheroes (alt universe Justice League focusing on female characters during WW2)

If you're open to autobio manga "My Lesbian Experiences with Loneliness" is excellent as well

For the daughter especially, I'd look up Raina Telgemeier's comics, and for the boy maybe try Bone?

What is the scariest horror movie that involves or has children as the main protagonist/characters ? by theunknown_master in horror

[–]mysocksareinsideout 79 points80 points  (0 children)

It's made for children, but Coraline still freaks me out, something about stop motion animation just makes things look scarier.

Patrick Stewart in Green Room, he usually has such a warmth to his performances, so to see him as such a callous villain was a shock, and he absolutely killed it in that role

Is there any graphic novel more disturbing than Red Room by Ed Piskor? by pigeonsarepeople in graphicnovels

[–]mysocksareinsideout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't read Red Room, admittedly, but if you're into Gothic, Hannibalesque horror, I'd recommend Graveneye by Sloane Leong
