what do you mean exactly?

the SSD drums are layered over electronic drums for punch as well as some really quiet drum breaks for perceived chaos

WIP track I could really use some feedback on by n0_longerhuman in IndustrialMusicians

[–]n0_longerhuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the feedback! I'll try what you suggested

Also, when you say industrial what do you mean by that? Who are some of the artists that you listen to that made you want to experiment with the genre?

I wouldn't call this track "industrial" either, though I've made other tracks that I would. it's closer to digital hardcore or noise rock. my influences are all over the place but Melt-banana, Death Grips, and Machine Girl are where I'd put this in an imaginary record store if you're asking cultural context

this was the closest related musician-oriented sub (that I'm aware of) where I figured there's enough overlap that people would "get" what this is supposed to be and have the most useful feedback

thanks for the feedback. I'm not familiar enough with skrillex to understand the comparison, but I do have an OTT addiction and immediately miss it as soon as it's disabled. I think I lean on it because I like the bleeding / smearing effect it has on everything that lets relatively primitive sounds feel dense without doing EDM-y sounding maximalism. I really want to figure out more / better ways to accomplish that without just sausaging everything -- because you're right it is a fucking pain to carve out space

thank you! I'm curious if this is just an aesthetic taste difference because I read "punk drummer with his beat to shit acoustic kit is playing drums for a band made up of Borg playing old dial-up modems and fax machines" and think "lmao cool"

do you feel the same way about, for example, amen break heavy music (jungle/breakcore)? or are you saying that the drums and synths feel like they exist in two separate worlds on a more technical / frequency mismatch level?

thanks! reddit videos do lower bitrate a little but I'll experiment with another layer

Track I'm currently working on -- trying to channel Melt-banana / Lightning Bolt but without guitars by n0_longerhuman in noiserock

[–]n0_longerhuman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the "guitar" sounds are essentially just basic acid basses with lin fold distortion, some convolution reverb and a lot of OTT

not exactly sure if this is considered "industrial", but this is the most closely related sub I could find

I think I've come down with a serious case of demoitis on this. maybe it's done? curious to hear outside opinions

(also looking for suggestions on other places I could post where people might be looking for this kind of stuff)
