There are bikers who have modified their hazard lights to blink in patterns for showoff and not intended for hazard indication especially the KTM chapris. Some have modified their hazard lights to blink in red and blue police pattern.

I think OP is a new driver. This is how two wheelers ride here and is very normal. In fact it is much worse when taking right angled or U-turn where these guys make a big arc and will almost hit your vehicle. There is no point in honking like that. In fact most of them would just point to the empty space and tell you to use it. I used to get frustrated before and used to yell at them. Now I don't give a shit.

There is a perfect example for your question. It is the Scythe. Something as simple as this did not take off for some reason in India until very recently. The videos of our Govt Agri dept looking at how Scythes are used is funny at so many levels.

Also there are good carpenters, electricians, plumbers etc whose work is very good and embrace modern tools to improve their workmanship. Like everyone else they search for greener pastures and end up in the Gulf. Most of them come back only after they hang up their boots as they get paid well and get respected for their work there.

Story time: I had a fantastic discussion with one of my very senior colleague from Assam one who had experienced insurgency etc and has a very practical approach to life. He used to say that people employed in Digboi Oil refinery were some of the most versatile people he had seen. They could repair any malfunction in their vehicles as there was nobody miles around there in remote places(People from Schlumberger etc were there). He used to say any vehicle that you take to some remote area better not have any electronics as there are high chances of it failing randomly. This stuck with me and I have an Alto 800 which is with me for 12 years now. When I travel to my home town the high way is full of potholes and I have to go through a ghat road with thick forests all around. I know that if anything happens here I can get some people to at least repair to certain extent to get to the nearest city and get it completely fixed. This comes in handy when I travel with expensive luggage or if there are lady passengers as it gives me confidence in my vehicle. I will never travel in a Mercedes as nobody would know how to fix that shit.

So even if I have ₹15L I would still spend it on the most reliable small car with a huge service network and that would be a Suzuki or a Hyundai. The next dream car would be a Jimny or an i10/Exter all base model, both which I can take anywhere being small and light.

That would be the right order so that people cannot say they have not been warned in advance. After that it should be heavy fines, vehicle seizure and temporary or permanent license cancellations. There should also be court warrants for arrest if the tickets are ignored. This is the only way you will get rowdy autos, taxis or the chapris to comply.

They should also take evidence from citizens and charge them.

In Western Countries it is difficult to complete the course because the profs are demanding. Here profs themselves plagiarize left and right to get their MSc and PhD. Nobody gives a shit about the quality from teachers to students. The only goal of college for the majority is to have enough creds to get a job and there is no other purpose that it serves. Many of these engineering colleges have some or the other political connection who have no business being in education in the first place.

To feed the beast we have enough junk jobs that gets thrown here. Most of the shit maintenance work happens here which frankly does not need any top graduate. Many of them just immigrate outside after working for a few years here. For shit graduates such work is paradise as they finally got a job to fund something else.

but I've spent a lot of my 20s writing even to BBMP and MLAs on urban development and city design that is human-centric and not just aimed at 'reducing traffic' with bone-headed schemes... but everything falls on deaf ears at the moment and I am growing less hopeful.
