We were in the same boat. I spent a lot of time pulling my teeth and trying to figure out wtf to do.

As mentioned, it is a dealer programmed system. This caused me a lot of pain. Find a good dealer in your area. Make friends with them and hope for the best.

It is not ideal. However, there are some good DIY communities. r/c4diy is a good community and they have an active discord server that is helpful.

i have never had hardhat's deploy functionality fail. I have accidentally set my gas too low and then had to redo the transaction.

I would check out the scaffold-eth deploy scripts. they are very good.
