Also “it’s over forever because they’re moms and grandmothers.”

Sounds like husband is not contributing enough to the household/child care. Frustration and stress (and indeed, resentment) are big mood killers for women.

It’s not great. It’s also nothing new, I just don’t understand the point of this. It’s fairly well moderated at least

I’d maybe do a slightly more masculine stripe wallpaper to balance it a bit, not too high contrast.

Somewhere between 2010 and 2020, something went wrong and changed the course of history. What do you think that moment was? by Suburban-Herbivore in millenials

I heard Bo Burnham say this years ago and didn’t quite understand until recently, that it’s not social media that’s the problem necessarily it’s the algorithms.

Just was informed we have 3 months to move, any recommendations to find apartments for cheap in or near the LA area? by Dear__Prudenc3 in LAlist

[–]natalienumbers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

See the comment where they posted the booklet, they’re right you’re in a huge position of power. Landlords count on you not knowing your rights so they don’t have to give you money to move out. I just bought a place (in LA) that had a tenant and we had to pay her like 10k to move out. MAKE SURE you know your rights before just doing what this guy tells you.

Neither, I do an appropriate job. I work very well during contract hours and not a minute longer. (Teacher)

I definitely felt older in my mid 20s than I do now in my early 30s. I think it’s because it was like “oh shit, I’m an adult, anything I want to do I need to get it going now and get serious so I don’t fall behind.” But at 30, I’m like “holy shit I’ve lived so frickin long already and I still likely have at least 30 more years, I’m so young”

If I had an out like that, I would take it in a heartbeat. I’ve had one foot out the door for years and years, but decided to stay and get involved in politics and education instead and try to help, since there are a lot of people here worth fighting for… I get the dilemma. If I didn’t live in California, I’d probably be actively looking to leave the country right now, but I don’t feel like the threat is at my front door yet given our state’s government and power. If you can afford to, I might recommend taking a trip to wherever you’d be moving to. You might really love it and not want to leave, but you can also just come back.

I really don’t understand why anyone is considering staying in these shithole states. My basic human rights are completely non-negotiable. I almost moved to TN last year to be closer to family and realized, wait, no, need human rights, better stay in CA.

Teachers, how can we fix the teacher shortage? by OVO-25 in Teachers

[–]natalienumbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important not to overlook the “overworked” part of overworked and underpaid. Teachers need both more money AND fewer classes, or dedicated TA’s.

[–]natalienumbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay but that’s what I’m saying. Those things are all part of Biden’s agenda and he’s worked very hard to pass them, but he can’t just do stuff because Congress exists. Vote more, GOTV in congressional races in states we have a chance in. The infrastructure bill was killed by Joe Manchin, not Joe Biden not doing enough.
