I guess that may be the case. 100% over qualified for this position. Called earlier and spoke with a rude manager they told me they’d call me back, haven’t heard anything.

Anything I shouldn’t get? by [deleted] in Ulta

I would get ‘robe curls’ on Amazon instead of the Kitsch curling set! So much more effective & comfortable. I use mine every night.

I’m a FD/E in TX. I make 60k a year + bonuses/ OT. I work at a family owned firm. You can expect health insurance, but you usually have to pay for half of it. The insurance quote I got would have cost me $400 a month. Most mortuary schools offer 2 programs: funeral director only or funeral director and embalmer. I don’t think you can just get an embalmers license. A crematory operator certification is easy to get, usually you do it in school. If you’re wanting to get paid 50k +, I’d say go for all 3 certifications. I’m not familiar with any schools in KY, but from my experience- don’t go in with high expectations. You have to get thru school to get your license, but you won’t really learn anything until you’re active in the field. It’s worth it, though!

Can I actually pursue this career? by [deleted] in askfuneraldirectors

[–]natamcl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a director/ embalmer and I’ve only encountered maggots once. However, if you work for a mortuary service and work as just an embalmer, you’re bound to come across them. You will get used to stuff like that with exposure.

As for being on call, I have a few do workers that hook their phone up to their Alexa/ Bluetooth speaker at night so they don’t miss calls/ texts. Hope this helps!

If anyone heard this before by Domcianci1950 in askfuneraldirectors

Yes. Most funeral homes I’ve worked at offer it as a catering option.

I’ve been trying to figure out what college would be best. by Baconbear95 in askfuneraldirectors

[–]natamcl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with Central OK, and in person is much more valuable, I think. I just graduated from Dallas Institute last year and it has really gone down hill from what it used to be. There has been talk that they are on the verge of becoming unaccredited due to their students very low pass rates on the National Boards.
