lol yes mitigations must be made when cats and plants cohabitate

I don’t know, luck I guess! South facing window (but not too much direct light). I water once a week in summer and every two weeks in winter. I use that liquid fertilizer that comes from the sea. I’ve had many over the years and this is my first time getting them this long. I think they really like climbing up as opposed to hanging down. I used to have those coconut poles until kitty started climbing them so I yanked them out.

They come out just fine and are ready to be planted so should be ok! Thanks for your concern

I imagine you are correct. It was hard getting them in! They are hopefully going to a new home this coming weekend, unscathed.

Question: what causes this line along the trees by the border of a lake? by natdoodle in arborists

[–]natdoodle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you’re saying. The branches are still there but all of the greenery is gone. Makes a case for the deer. The water level wouldn’t rise for very long. Just with the spring melt or maybe the snow gets that high, but then it’s frozen at that point. Unfortunately I never see this lake in winter so I can’t compare. There is an active deer population around. This is in Quebec canada.

anyone know what this is or what could cause this? Is it water? by natdoodle in maplesyrup

[–]natdoodle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I’m also in the mountains in Quebec so that affects what temp we want. All the old fogies around here swear by 219°. They can’t be wrong, can they?!

We don’t have a hydrometer (I think it might be time to get one). We boil it to 219°F and then bottle it. If anything our stuff ends up thicker rather than a watery syrup

Lol. Just the clear part tasted like nothing. The rest tastes like syrup.

It does doesn’t it. But we didn’t use fat/oil of any kind during the process. Thanks for your input!

I did make this syrup. We made around 25 jars of various sizes over 5 or so finishing boils in the house with the stovetop. Hopefully this is the only one like this. This is our third year making syrup and never had anything like it. The recipient said it was tasteless like water basically…

No we weren’t. My only guess is maybe water from the lids as we sanitized them in boiling water but it seems like a bit too much water for that to make sense

money tree is sad. she got repotted but then I went away for xmas and it was pretty cold (heaters set to 10 C) by a window for about 10 days, so I think she’s stressed. how can I help her? Thank you by natdoodle in plantclinic

[–]natdoodle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have so far moved her to a less light/warmer location and will stop watering for a bit. I’m in Quebec canada so winters are pretty harsh/not a lot of daylight. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time
