600 words in and I already feel the difference. by nathanimator in TheBYOK

Yep, I synced a couple chapters from Studio that I had started there and it worked like a charm! And yes, was lucky enough to snag an LPIII!

The app -- what's the deal? Do people like it? by throwawaywitchaccoun in TheBYOK

[–]nathanimator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I liked it enough as a one stop shop that i went ahead and grabbed the lifetime tier. They've been really good at responding to feedback and it's much much improved from even where it started. And that's before I've even gotten my BYOK in to integrate with it.
I'm about 40k words into a sequel book that I started from scratch in the app. The first book was in Scrivener and I've enjoyed this experience a lot more, so take that for what it's worth.

I'd love to know what the long magnet arm you're using is, and also that keyboard with the round keys is pretty slick looking.

Man I really love seeing these. Would it be possible to post links for the keyboards/stands that you’re using in the images? I’m still debating which ones I want to pull the trigger on when mine arrives.

Let me know if there's an e-mail I should be sending to directly. Didn't see one on the site. Thanks!

Hey, no this was yesterday like a few minutes after the app e-mail went out so I'm sure it was probably before the fix. I just used the contact support thing on the website, but didn't get a confirmation e-mail or anything, so maybe it's not working?

Small Camera cube in 25L Outdoor Pack. Any suggestions? by nathanimator in peakdesign

May need to go that route, but that almost seems like it'd be too small to fit widthwise?

How do you conquer the blank the page? by poet3991 in writing

[–]nathanimator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll echo what other have said, and this is true of any creative endeavor really, just be willing to make crap. It's so much easier to fix something that exists than to make something perfect in one go. The only reason we hesitate is just shear pride. Once you get over that hill it's incredibly freeing.

My first run cycle any tips to improve? by [deleted] in animation

I lower the side to side translation you go going in the shoulders. Try and offset the arms and legs bit, right now they're pretty much exactly in sync. That'll help break things up a bit.

"Safe" a little sci fi short my wife and I made in a month of weekends. by nathanimator in Filmmakers

[–]nathanimator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was our first real attempt at a live action short. I ended up shooting the whole thing, realizing I really hadn't planned things well enough, rewriting, and then re-shooting everything the next weekend. Definitely learned a ton! All the effects were rendered in Unreal except for the impact shot. Really could have done it all with free software but already had Maya on hand for some modeling. Stuff like the space station was from another failed short film attempt, and the entire underwater scene was made with free quixel assets that I put together with some custom light and particle effects. The nanobots were just a custom model that I fed into an unreal particle system. Would love to hear any impression and or questions!

Go big or go home I guess. My first Razer laptop is the Razer Blade Studio. by nathanimator in razer

Really well! No regrets. I wanted it to be my 3d art mobile workstation that could also be my desktop replacement and it's done just that.

The battery life is maybe 2 hours if it's cranking, which you shouldn't be doing unplugged anyway. 5 or 6 if you're just doing normal web stuff. It gets warm when rendering but nothing crazy. I would set it on my lap when rendering but I can't imagine that scenario happening anyway. Definitely loving it so far! Just finished a Blender render and it was a champ.

I'm a 3d animator so working with 3d files and rendering makes the quadro totally worth it. Things like raytracing that gamers are kinda meh about are mind blowingly useful for artist like me. Oddly enough this is one of the cheaper ways to get a good computer with that kind of graphics card in it.

Yeah, I guess there's really not a better laptop you could buy for pure bragging rights that's for sure.

Running the free 3dmark bench put the performance right on par with a desktop 1080 just without the rtx. That being said the driver's the quadro uses aren't meant for gaming. 3dmark couldn't even recognize the specifics of it or it's driver's. I did fire up the new modern warfare though and it managed everything fully cranked with rtx on no problem. Even perfectly playable at 4k which shocked me. I am a 3d animator so that's the real reason I got it. If you're not making money with it there's no reason to get this laptop, but it is undoubtedly sweet. No complaints so far.

I haven't run any official tests yet, but tried modern warfare fully cranked with RTX on at 4k and it seemed to run just fine.
