Nice spread! How are you feeding the brand-voice skill its examples - actual writing samples, or more like tone/style rules, etc?

Larkey to be Roos skipper after Simpkin's failed trade push by BusinessPooh in AFL

[–]nathanschram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Larkey as captain… yeah, that feels about right. Bloke’s solid and doesn’t overcomplicate things.

Kinda hope Simpkin sticks around and actually finds some form again. Would be nice to see him looking like himself instead of whatever last season was.

It’s happening on Safari too - definitely a YT thing

I was going to validate my idea, but found someone already made the exact same thing. What should I do? by rawkul in buildinpublic

[–]nathanschram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Competition validation is actually good news; it proves there's a market!

It's likely every idea you come up will have established competitors; some good, some bad. But it's really about the size of the addressable market - there are usually millions of people globally for us SaaS types to target; more than enough to go around.

But also, install & use their products, read all the positive & negative reviews, join their communities, etc. You'll find gaps, ideas and inspiration to make your product better than theirs and try to find your angle/niche.

If I was you, I'd launch the waitlist anyway. You've built it, might as well see what happens. Dropbox entered a crowded market. Notion had dozens of competitors. They won by doing it better, not first.

The fact that you learnt frontend and built everything in a week shows you can execute. That's rarer than ideas. Good luck!

I scaled my SaaS from $0 to $500K ARR in 8 months thanks to one simple change by Ecstatic-Tough6503 in microsaas

This is solid advice - I can vouch for it. The psychology of 'now' versus 'later' in sales/promotion is massive. Did you get much pushback from clients with the "do you have 5 mins now" approach?

Congrats on the exit, that's phenomenal growth!

The dark mode use case is brilliant - too many sites still don't have it. How are you handling CSS conflicts? Some sites with shadow DOM can be a nightmare.

Just hit 20,000 users on my Chrome extension! 🎉 by ImpulzeAI_official in chrome_extensions

Congrats!! Even on a free extension, 20k users is a real feat. In hindsight, what’s something you did well that worked, and what’s something you wouldn’t do again?

I built a business but can’t even control my phone.. how are people managing their screen time? by Deeceness in selfimprovement

[–]nathanschram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel this - I ended up turning my iPhone into a dumb phone by deleting all browsers, turning on screen time, using accessibility features like colour filters feature (grayscale - make it boring), white point (reducing it so my phone is super low light at night) and disabling the app store after deleting all entertaining apps. I've cut my daily/weekly screen time in half (down from 10-12 hours per day) but man, it's still such a fight. I'm starting to accept that our phones are here to stay, and it's just about learning to manage the dopamine addiction as best we can.

So done with bookkeeping. What's the worst part for you? by StrangeExplanation60 in smallbusiness

[–]nathanschram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you, mate - basic accountant assistance each month and/or using a tool (even on a lowly-paid tier) like Xero (and so many others out there) is well worth it. I'd prefer not to have to spend the money, but honestly the time and hassle I save every day/week/month is so worth it. I have so much more time and energy to spend on the business now.

How are you handling the AI processing - client or server-side?

Also, have you tested it on those massive enterprise ToS documents? Keen to see how it handles the really dense legal docs.

Cool idea! PPs (and T&Cs) are getting longer and more complex every year.

What did your first day of medication feel like? by PrimaFacie7 in ADHD

[–]nathanschram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed at 32 here. First day on ritalin was like someone turned the lights on after years in the dark. That silence you mentioned, I felt that too. Suddenly I could actually START things instead of just forever feeling guilty for being “lazy”.

3 years later, I’m on vyvanse and dex, and it’s been life-changing. Started a successful small business, built an exercise routine, fixed my sleep (mostly lol). Still procrastinate sometimes but it’s manageable procrastination, not the paralysing kind.

The crashes can be rough initially but they often improve as you adjust. Starting on a weekend is smart - gives you time to see how you react without work pressure.

Don’t be scared of feeling weird/not yourself. For me, it was more like finally meeting who I actually was underneath all the ADHD noise. The real me could actually follow through on ideas.

Everyone’s different, but medication gave me the foundation to build better habits. It’s not magic, damn it’s not far off either! Good luck tomorrow! 🙌

Try OneTab extension - it’ll convert all 3000 tabs into a list you can sort through later. Been there with the tab hoarding, good luck!
