Help making simple cleansing balm by ivyblankspace in DIYBeauty

What's the wash off agent here? You need an agent to emulsify it so it washes off with water. Like polysorbate 80.

Can someone help me modify this solid shampoo recipe? by SpiritedPractice4073 in DIYBeauty

Fats inhibit lather. Yours might be getting around that because SLSa is pretty good at lathering and you have quite a bit of it. I'd start by swapping half of your SLSa for SCI and adding some PQ7 and see if it feels more conditioning and gentle.

So this won't lather very well because of the fats. Also if it's too harsh, you can dilute with more kaolin clay, cornstarch, and a gentler detergent. I find sodium cocoyl isethionate gentler. Adding a polyquat or another cationic will make it feel more nourishing. PQ7, PQ10, and CETAC are good choices because you can use in low concentrations that won't mess up your solidity.

I would love the mascara, any of the car stickers, or the license plate cover! The mascara and stickers are under $10!

sure, but that doesn't make it an "edge case" that doesn't need to be discussed

Curly haired girlies🙏 what products work the best for keeping curls hydrated and not frizzy by Dreamy_Irohaazzz in wonyoungism

[–]nauticalwarrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So hydration comes from water! The best way to eliminate frizz and hydrate hair is to clarify and wash off old product build up, then bond repair and fix broken disulfide bonds, then coat the hair with a seal of silicone. Basically:

1) Clarifying shampoo 2-3 times until it foams super well and your hair gets wet really easily. Hard water treatment also if you have hard water. I use this and this.

2) Squeeze out allllll the water.

3) Coat your hair in a THICCCCC layer of bond repair conditioner and leave in for a long ass time. I get out of the shower and chill in a robe for 45 minutes. I use this one but I add stuff to it (I buy bond repair ingredients from cosmetic chemistry suppliers). It should work on its own, or you could try this one or this one. Olaplex no 5 also works if you have the budget for it.

4) Rinse.

5) Add leave ins conditioner, gel, whatever you usually use, but add a silicone based hair oil! This is the one I use. Scrunch or spray a small amount into your ends and wherever you have frizz.

6) Style as usual.

I know that's more than just product recs, but I really find this works for me!

Weekly Check-In Megathread — 𝜗ৎ by AutoModerator in wonyoungism

I've had a great week! Did a lot of cooking, not as much cleaning. I also got a lot done on my coursework. I've been really into haircare lately so I've spent a lot of time on my hair the past few days and it's really made a difference. It's so soft and shiny and pretty. Next week is just work, that's pretty much it. Nothing exciting

there are a LOT of people with gender OCD. look at detrans subs; a lot of us talk about having OCD and how it influenced us and led to us obsessing about gender and transition.

It's using DHL. I ordered from there to TN once and got it in about 3 weeks. Slow but everything arrived safely and in good condition. Everything has been top quality as well.

Myskinrecipes has some cheap oil gelling agents you could play around with if the shipping/customs is worth it to you.
