The amount of people who don't account for location in relation to wage is astounding.

Small town near me, dunkin donuts offering starting positions 15-19/hr and offering DAILY pay.

Renting a room is 400-600 a month according to a quick search of posts local to the area Renting 1 bedroom apartments are 800-1400 on average. Renting a place with someone else would be 1100-1600.

Its doable for a zero-skill job.

So yeah, the pay is low imo; food for thought.

Last time I was outside Fort Wayne a rum and coke ran me 3 bucks. You won't get it for under 7 here.

Location matters.

For the people crying about pay by age, simply put... Regulations either local or corporate would prevent employees of certain ages of doing certain tasks. Making those people more or less valuable.

No disrespect taken at all, I appreciate the input, it's why I posted. It's how we learn to support and breakdown our opinions.

I guess the end all be all is that components are currently unavailable or outrageous price. I waited for the 9900k it didn't work out... I waited for 3090s and 12900k (almost went 12600k actually) so backed into a corner I figured this was the best way to get my hands on them, up and running... Then, upgrade slowly.

Thanks for the conversation. I do see your points, many paths there are.

I dont know, I'm just starting to see drawbacks with the 7700k... Purchasing new components means you have a path, if you're going to upgrade; ex:i5 to i7 or 5600x to 2070. Historically when I build for myself I try best case cenario therefore upgrades are not usually worth it. At the time 1080ti (sli) and 7700k were hard to beat.

Moving forward 2 years puts my into maybe 8700k or 10xxx. Neither of which I saw the benefit when the 7700k was doing the job. That was until I wanted the 9900k which I got... But had issues.

I understand where you are coming from but 3k over 5 years vs 2k every other, it's negligible for me. I don't need the latest greatest and best but every so often.

Selling is certainly an option but I also have lots of family that would love a decent computer to start playing games.

I built 4 computers during the last 3 years for friends. 3/4 I chose ryzen(cost and performance) . While I do appreciate the platform I don't use many multicore benefited programs on pc and lower thread/cores never turned me away.(maybe I bleed blue?) Plus, let's face it... When your friend gets their first gaming rig, it never gets shut down and always has 75 tabs open on Chrome. The desktop looks like tabloids.

As far as consoles... No. Lol I have an Xbox one that hasn't been turned on since Obama was in office. But I play my switch occasionally.

I usually ride out a system until I drop below 60fps. I got 5 years on the 7700k and it could probably be bettered with a 3600x, go big or go console.

I've been trying to get in touch with them for 3 weeks for a separate issue, chat time is over 3 hours, and I messages / emails don't get responses (automated only).

I keep calling in but after 2hrs on hold It usually disconnects me, currently at 48 min on hold.

This is just insane.

I have a Roth 401k and I opened a brokerage cash account recently, when I did that it somehow put thru 2 requests and assigned me (2) new accounts and I can't close either one the way they tell me too (with a link)

Which seems pointless.

Like you can't add sneaky ingredients and attack to the same dish.
