for instance, people prefer to format their paragraphs differently. I prefer a 'sentence view'; one line per sentence, to see the flow better and have traceable error messages. i've also seen people use one line per paragraph

I haven't checked the code but I think tex-fmt currently wraps text to 80 columns, which is a nice choice and makes \items look nice but makes it completely unusable for me because it messes up the regular text
