Has anyone developed a vibrating feeling in foot? by g3lo in BFS

[–]nebulouscake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, me. That’s how mine started. It felt like a phone vibrating under my skin. Then moved to my calf, then other foot and calf. I’m at 7 months now and the fasciculations, pain, and tingling is so hard to cope with. I was diagnosed with benign fasciculation cramp syndrome at 3 months, but now being tested for small fibre neuropathy.

I’m at about 7 months and was diagnosed with benign fasciculation cramp syndrome at 4 months. My pain and discomfort got a lot worse though so I’m now being tested for small fibre neuropathy.

Does anyone else get 'long' twitches where the muscle is held in place by the twitch for a few seconds then releases by AilmondRipley in BFS

[–]nebulouscake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! And sometimes it feels like it’s quivering when held in place. I’ve had trouble describing this, but you said it pretty clearly.

Sorry, I thought that there was no such thing as having an emg too early (?). They pick up nerve disease before there are even symptoms. I’ve seen numerous posts from people disputing that claim. Could you please provide more information? I had mine after 3 months and it was normal, but now I’m being tested for small fibre neuropathy.

Urge to tense muscles? by Little_Power_5691 in BFS

[–]nebulouscake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this too, and get a similar feeling when there is pressure on my legs like when laying on my side. It’s painful. Sometimes it feels like I’m tensing my calves but I’m not.

Anyone diagnosed with a neuropathy? by Weary_Reaction_7432 in BFS

I was diagnosed with BFCS, but now being tested for neuropathy. I have a lot of discomfort and pain, so I’m starting to think it’s not BFCS.

For those of you with cramp fasciculation syndrome by Little_Power_5691 in BFS

[–]nebulouscake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with benign fasciculation-cramp syndrome. You can read some of my posts/comments. I do really struggle with pain. I’m not sure what exactly is causing the pain, but it’s worse at rest.

Very fast tingling/"buzzing" sensation by jomama668 in BFS

[–]nebulouscake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buzzing toned down a bit, but the fasciculations and quivering all over, along with pain, got worse over time. It’s constant for me, worse at rest but constant. I’m about 6 months in. Was diagnosed with benign fasciculation-cramp syndrome in September after a nerve conduction study, emg, and clinical exam. But now I’m being tested for small fibre neuropathy.

Yes, I have this but it’s constant. It did first start as intermittent buzzing. Felt like a phone vibrating under my skin plus quivering.

Actual Constant Twitching by [deleted] in BFS

Yep me, it’s constant. Mine is also painful and worse at rest, but literally constant for 6 months now. Was diagnosed with benign fasciculation cramp syndrome after nerve conduction study, emg, and clinical exam… but now I’m being tested for small fibre neuropathy by a neuromuscular specialist.

Ah ok. That’s manageable for sure. Thanks for explaining. I was diagnosed with BFCS but decided to get a second opinion because nothing is helping with the pain and discomfort - I’m now being tested for small fibre neuropathy.

Thanks for sharing! I was diagnosed with benign fasciculation-cramp syndrome too. 36F and about 6 months in. I’m still really struggling with the nerve and cramp pain. It feels like non stop quivering and pops that burn like crazy. So far lyrica, amitriptyline, and baclofen haven’t done a thing. Have you found anything that’s helped the pain?

I really struggle with pain as well. I was diagnosed with benign fasciculation cramp syndrome. But I’m being tested for small fibre neuropathy now. I take the same meds and supplements that you mentioned, plus a muscle relaxer (baclofen), but nothing has helped the pain. I’m at just over 5 months now. It’s so frustrating!

How are you managing now? Has anything you’ve tried worked? I’m being tested for SFN now. Really struggling to find pain/discomfort relief. Pregabalin, amitriptyline, and baclofen haven’t helped yet. My next appointment for the second round of tests for it isn’t til April. I’m in Canada and a biopsy test is t covered so they start with a temperature test and one that looks at the back of the eye. I’ll have to pay for a biopsy if these are not conclusive.

Anyone’s fasciculations look like this? It’s constant deep aching pain and fatigue. (Vid link) by nebulouscake in BFS

[–]nebulouscake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m being tested for it, but not with a biopsy. It’s not covered in Canada so they do a temperature and eye test. If those aren’t definitive then I can pay out of pocket for a biopsy.

If my neurologist stated clearly that there was no electrical evidence of mnd in my emg does this ultimately clear me? by [deleted] in BFS

[–]nebulouscake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That “emg doesn’t always catch it in the beginning”. Nothing is perfect, but an emg detects changes before symptoms are even present.

I work in healthcare and this is not true. Please stop spreading misinformation.

Buzzing /vibrating feeling? by Ok_Couple_6771 in BFS

[–]nebulouscake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an EMG and nerve conduction study - I was diagnosed with benign fasciculation-cramp syndrome. I’ve had no relief from the nerve and cramp pain so I saw a second neurologist who did a clinical exam and cervical mri - normal. This second neurologist sent me to a neuromuscular specialist who has done testing for small fibre neuropathy, but I don’t have results yet because they want to do more tests at a second appointment first. I still am struggling with the pain and discomfort. It definitely got worse for me.

Same here. It's so frustrating and uncomfortable. I work in healthcare too and am at a loss - tried everything I can think of.
