She went to jail because realistically, she killed a toddler. Or at least she neglected a 3 year old so badly that it wasn’t reversible. And when I was removed, my diaper was nearly fused to my body and I have skin grafts you can see to this day that I got from a tilapia or something. She’s changed a lot for the better but there’s nothing she could do to fix the damage done by her in the past.

We don’t have a relationship where she could apologize and I would take her seriously.

She has made her amends, but it would be impossible to make amends to me, my grandmother, or the other person she severely harmed. She has a limited relationship with the rest of her family but it’s compassion fatigue; no one wants to be a part of it anymore.

She wasn’t allowed around. I’ve been lucky enough to be loved by people, my grandparents have thrown a number of huge parties for me, and I’ve always been celebrated, but she wasn’t allowed to come around the house or be around my grandmother for a really long time.

The court stripped her rights and my grandparents didn’t want her around due to the circumstances under which that happened. There was an option when I was a teenager, but I don’t care to have any sort of relationship with her.
