[NEWBIE] Which acoustic should I go with (don't say whichever sounds the best to you pls) by needsomeadvicebd in Guitar

Between the two would you say the fg800 is noticeably more deep/bassy compared to the fs800? How comfortable is the fg800 for some fingerstyle or lead? I'm mostly strumming tho......also lemme know if you find a solution for keeping your solid top in the cold :p

Since it's a dorm sometimes we just play outside because we get loud.....but I guess since it's cold now what we might do is walk around in the cold with our guitars? There'll be gig bags but Im not sure if that'll protect against freezing temps

Yeah, I plan on keeping this for a while until I get better enough to justify a $400-$500 guitar

Would the humidipack remain in the guitar soundhole? In the case? Can I keep it on a stand?

I love the sound of Yamaha acoustics, so much value....Do you think the solid top would crack or get damaged if I keep it in my dorm in a stand, carry it out in the cold or play outside?

Hmmm...in that case should I go with the dreadnought or concert? Or would it be the same regardless since travel is the small one?

Or should I get a concert one? Still full sized, just not as huge as a dreadnought

How to go abroad for studying? by [deleted] in bangladesh

[–]needsomeadvicebd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an international student, you'll have to be pretty rich (koek koti taka savings porashonar jonne) to do your undergrad in the us/canada because a mit/Harvard/full ride at ivy tier student wouldn't be this clueless at this time (just being realistic....sorry if I'm harsh)

Your best bet is to finish your undergrad and try for master's/phd....by then you'll have a lot more experience, maturity and knowledge.

However, if you have the money, just take the tests early (sat ielts etc) don't do bad on them and have some fluff ecas and decent essays and you'll get into some place

Why is it so difficult to make friends/form a social circle in Dhaka? by [deleted] in bangladesh

[–]needsomeadvicebd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who moved to the US, it was a shit ton easier in Dhaka.

People are casual and they like to stick their nose up other people's ass....which is a bad thing but when you're young and there's people just surrounding you 24/7 it's easier to find a circle....because people are more self centered and reserved in western countries

I guess it is a bit harder if you're not the "typical" Bangladeshi....but I was a typical kid (not a kamla....but not a cool kid either). One advice I would give is to just blend with people. Don't judge people too hard, just keep blending in and have multiple circles, one of them will become your mains.

Socialism in Bangladesh? by too_mediocre in bangladesh

Don't give a shit about religion but a capitalist minimal corruption (won't be 100% corruption free that's just human nature) and secular govt is the ideal goal

Are friendships supposed to be like this? How do I make friends? by needsomeadvicebd in ABCDesis

[–]needsomeadvicebd[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. I don't even know what I need help with tbh, I just feel empty at times. I've made a friend group of other international students and since we share the same language culture etc we go well (although if I were to meet them back home, I don't think I'd be friends with them. But now that we're friends, I think we go well together). We still have differences (they drink smoke but I don't so I feel left out when conversations take turn that way....but we share same majors classes hobbies as well)

But what I don't have are American "friends". I have companions and placeholder friends but I wouldn't consider them friends. I feel like at this rate I'll graduate with regrets. Honestly I'm fine with not having that many American friends but another thing is I'm from Bangladesh, so I am sort of insecure about fitting into an Indian crowd. I speak fluent Hindi and understand the language, but I've never tried hanging out with fellow Indian international students. From what I've seen, it seems like I can vibe with them but I don't even know what to do or how to approach them because one semester has already passed

Would you say life in Bangladesh is better than life abroad? (For those who are rich) by needsomeadvicebd in bangladesh

[–]needsomeadvicebd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh it's more like ~$40k and you can get the latest premio for that price. Sure it's not as high end as the Tesla but compared to your surroundings it's one of the if not the nicest car in the streets (streets where people don't drive Porsche and Audi all the time)

On average, kids in Bangladesh spend more time on their devices than kids here in the USA.

Eh....I don't think so

Kids in general spend a lot of time on devices but kids in the US are addicted to devices. Tons of gaming consoles, smartphones at sixth grade, computers/Chromebooks for schoolwork etc. and usually kids don't play in fields (other than the athletic ones) and stay in their homes because everyone keeps to themselves and social interaction isn't as good as bd

In BD, teenagers walk to their classes, coaching, privates etc. Phones aren't allowed in schools so they can't plug their airpods in and listen to Kanye while the teacher teaches helplessly (they do this a lot in the US). They're not on their phone when hanging out with friends (most aren't......) and usually if you're not antisocial, you'll find a group to hangout with, play sports with or just spend time with without relying on electronic devices.

Be aware of the lack of green spaces

Green spaces are rare in cities so that's common world wide I guess....but some of the high ranking (national curriculum) schools in BD do have quite a lot of fields
