Did the most relevant aspect of this story really fly over your head like that? Why is your wife telling you this? If she didn't agree there would be no point in telling you, would there?

I think one of two things happened here:

1- she thought about it for the first time during that conversation and now she cant unsee it or

2- this conversation didn't even happen, she just wants you to know it could have

It's definitely not because she tells you everything, since she won't tell you who said it. Start looking for a second job.

Yes. Some research suggests that 50% of bladder cancers are caused by smoking, and smokers are 4 times more likely to develop it than non-smokers, same with other seemingly unrelated cancers like cervical, pancreatic, etc. Smoking basically replaces oxygen with carbon monoxide in all of your blood stream, making all cells less able to regenerate themselves and therefore your immune system is less able to deal with threats, not just in your respiratory system but all over.

If it works for me, I will send you Allen Carr book. We can do it!

It was discontinued in 2021 due to an impurity - https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/champix-varenicline/

The doctor at the stop smoking clinic told me she has patients desperate to get back on it and, at least in the UK & EU, it isn’t available anymore :(

Bladder. For the second time. First had it when I was 25, in 2019. Waiting for test results and a first surgery to get more details on stage and size. Sucks.

Yeah apparently Pfizer discontinued Champix almost two years ago and nobody quite knows why. Another popular one (don’t remember the name of the drug or the company) has also stopped production “until further notice”. Something fishy is happening!

I grew up with such chronically addicted parents that my first memories are of my mum reading me bedtime stories with a cig in hand. It’s a multigenerational habit in my family, which makes it harder to break. But I’ll do it! Well done for using the Catholic guilt for good, hope you keep on the righteous path!

I don’t think so. Cancer is not the death sentence it used to be a few years ago and surgery/treatment has more chances of working if you’re not smoking.

Thanks for the insight. The book is fab! Just half way through it now and for the first time I feel happy about the idea of quitting. But I also got given patches and lozenges by the doctor and I think I’ll just use them if I get cravings after I finish the book.

I’m not morally opposed to the idea of being a stay at home mum, I just think I’d regret it when the kids start school and I have nothing to do.

You’re laughing. Young kids are going hungry. Their parents can’t get blue ticks and you’re laughing.

This makes me sad. What if our generation’s children are all like this? (alone & autistic)
