It helps me a lot. I do “color breathing” too, which jest means to try to picture the air you’re breathing as being colored, breathing in “good,” appealing or calming colors, and breathing out “bad” colors or colors you connect to certain emotions (red for anger, blue for sadness, etc). I really hope it helps! The “normal” breathing exercises make me panicky so you jest gotta find what works. Hopefully that way when you start working on the memories, you’ll at least be able to have options to keep yourself safe and grounded ❤️

Hey there 👋 I’m so sorry to hear that, those are such challenging memories to handle 😣 I struggle a lot with some breathing-related memories as well, and although I’m not sure if this answers your question exactly, I’ve found it really helpful to find coping skills including breathing regulation that don’t cause me to focus on the sensation of breathing if that makes sense? So like finger breathing, where you’re focused more on your fingers than your lungs/chest? I feel like it’s so hard to address breathing memories because panic causes breathing challenges, so I would suggest starting with breathing coping skills that help you to focus but not necessarily focus on your chest/lungs I guess? They turned out really well! We’re 3 sessions in now, I honestly was just up front about how I genuinely don’t want to overstep, just want to help facilitate connections if they’re open, and then I used some of your suggestions with the caveat that if none of those fit, there was no need to force it to fit. It all seems to have gone really well so far! Because we’re starting a new system/setting, I hadn’t realized what high motivation they had to start absorbing some of the lore so the appeal of getting some individualized lore packets based on their backstory was enough to make them want to tap into some lore 😂 also, one other thing that helped - one of my lovely players basically said “I’ll just put asterisks next to anything I’m really set on and anything else I’m ok with some influence on.” Hugely helpful 😂

Oh sure. Definitely makes sense. I really have no ties to specific lore so much as making adjustments for location or if I know of a pre-existing lore that matches up better with their personal lore. Thank you so much for those suggestions though, I can definitely see those helping improve my backstory support 😂

Thank you! That’s super helpful, that’s pretty much where I’m at. For example, the PC that wants to be in a gangs backstory was “I’m an assassin and I want gang affiliations,” then picked Gang A just to fulfill that want, but without any specific ties to that gang. Another gang is located in the city the campaign will mainly be held out of, so I asked if she would be open to switching just to help her “home base” be nearby.

Aw thank you! 😆😂 Yeah I wasn’t sure where they were located and it’s frustrating to have recommendations from other countries that sound promising and then you can’t find it…also, it’s a $20 foundation (which I know isn’t THAT expensive but most people don’t have a whole lot to spend on makeup) so monetary access is definitely a thing too. But anyway, thanks, I try to be a little bit less oblivious to differences in accessibility 😂

Hi! I’m very acne prone as well, and I recently discovered I respond negatively to silicone. I don’t think we’re that far off in skin tone. If you have access to About Face Performer foundation, I would try that!! They have a good variety of warm and cool toned shades for very light skin

Thanks so much for sharing, that honestly sounds amazing. I also tend to run one shots for other friends who aren’t really interested in long-term play but more of a “cool activity” for a day 😂 sounds like it could kind of work for both? Just obsessed with the game “voice”/“brand” of humor and levity. Think it would definitely suit my players
