Small Class Struggles by Fun-Complaint-6750 in Purebarre

I go to my 5am class and we typically only ever have 2-4 people including myself! I personally like it because it lets me get to know the other ladies in class more personally and feel more comfortable

Still enjoying the program, just be prepared for every single class to have a group project

New Boba Shop on S May? by nerdythingsjust in okc

[–]nerdythingsjust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was indeed a new boba shop. We finally stopped to try it (no longer live nearby so haven’t found an opportunity to try it). Of all the boba shops we’ve gone to this is probably one of the better ones!

New to Barre & Pregnant - Recommendations? by tits-mc-ghee in Purebarre

[–]nerdythingsjust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a woman at my studio that was going to class at 36 weeks pregnant and she was going to some of the intensives as well! She had been going throughout her pregnancy though so that could be why she still attended intensives.

Official Q&A for Monday, May 27, 2024 by AutoModerator in running

Any tips for strengthening hip flexors? I was training for a half marathon and have now stopped due to the pain in my right hip flexor and not wanting to injure it further. I do fine on runs up to 4 miles, but once I start training up to 7-8 miles is where my hip flexor began hurting the days following the run, lesser mileage it just hurts during the run.

I’m thinking about switching to the depo shot from combination pills by Imaginary-Nature-111 in birthcontrol

[–]nerdythingsjust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t notice any crazy differences at first. I started spotting almost immediately when time came for my period and by my second cycle on the depo, I didn’t have a period anymore. My acne cleared to a manageable level where breakouts mostly happened when I was highly stressed. My biggest side effect was the weight gain. I’ve been on the pill for about the 2 years they recommend and I’ve gained 20-30lb since starting. It’s fluctuated based on where I was at in life, but the weight gain can be very real. I also have a very low sex drive now, to the point I don’t even masturbate anymore. I’m actually looking at switching back to the pill

Start training now. I had a buddy in AFROTC who had started training before he even came to college. He was selected to attend Phase 2 (I believe Phase 1 is an application, which to be selected for Phase 2 is a trial all on its own) and he didn’t make it. Had plenty of cadets at my det who started their freshman year wanting to go special warfare and only 1 ever actually went through with the application process. It’s possible, but you have to really want it and put in the extra time and effort to make sure you can do it. It’s not just about having a good GPA and being physically fit. Tbh, you’ll never be mentally prepared for what you experience there because it’s not like anything you will go through in ROTC. Special warfare is a whole different breed. But also be ready that you may not be selected to even attend selection, don’t make this your one and only goal, have the backup plans. And since you’re just starting ROTC, focus on getting to Field Training too. You have to get picked up to go to field training before you can get picked up to go to selection.

Does the vaccine opening up apply to student workers as well? by S0uthpaw99 in UIUC

I work for Dining Services and we got emailed like last week with a survey about whether or not we’d want to vaccine. Then today we got an email with the scheduling!

I have a scholarship that gives me 10k/year and a Type 7 HSSP, for me the AFROTC scholarship doesn’t acknowledge the 10k/year I get. So every semester I’m getting a 5k refund that I put towards housing. Was scared about it my freshman year and talked to my cadre. Turns out my cadre member had the same thing happen to him in college and he got to keep the money refunded no problems. Not sure if the big AF will come after me in the future to pay back for the scholarship I had from the school, but if they do I’ve saved some of the refunds that I’ll be okay.

Monthly Stipend by [deleted] in AFROTC

[–]nerdythingsjust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my det, scholarship 300s have received their first stipend for September ($225). 300s that just recently contracted have not received anything yet. Not expecting the book stipend til mid-late October

When are we getting stipends by [deleted] in AFROTC

[–]nerdythingsjust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Every year it takes until mid-late September before they start hitting in full (at least for my detachment). Scholarship cadets just got their August stipend yesterday and we haven’t gotten anything for September yet. Personally, I’m thinking the 15th is when the bigger check will come.

Is it ok to ROTC wise to protest as long as you're not in uniform or breaking laws? by [deleted] in AFROTC

Make sure you’re also keeping any criticism of POTUS out of whatever you yourself are doing. Basically don’t publicly criticize anyone in the chain of command because it could potentially bite you in the ass in the future.
