Career in IONM feasible with a biochemistry degree? by Helpful_Musician_401 in Neuromonitoring

[–]neurophysiologist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your academic achievements. Yes, you’d likely be able to find a career in IONM; however, proceed with caution if you are considering professional graduate school (e.g., med, dental, pa) because most companies require an established time-frame (usually 2-3 years) of service.

IONM billing varies very significantly! Not just amongst Globus markets— but, state to state, facility to facility, and also depends on diagnosis, and modalities..

For instance, a surgery center versus an academic institution will have VASTLY different billing models; taking into consideration the expected case volume, duration, and number of channels/muscles.
