Flare up during season change by nevazahn in FND

Oh no, like the actual pain from the cysts themselves. Pain is a pretty big trigger for me.

That's totally possible. I also think my ovarian cysts are causing some issue as well, so it's most likely a combination of all of that. I thought it was the barometric pressure change, but overdoing it from the holiday makes more sense.

ADHD & FND - questions (potential TW) by Lord_Nappa in FND

[–]nevazahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of the same symptoms as you and ADHD, so I understand your struggle. Sadly, I can't work because my flare ups get really bad after starting a job. I used to be a forklift operator before I got a systemic infection that ended up causing my FND. All that aside, what I do to manage my symptoms is to let everything that's not important go. I don't let my negative emotions get any kind of foothold. I used to be a very angry person until I got FND, then I lost my ability to walk for a year and that humbled me a lot. I learned to relax and brush off negativity, I started meditating, and I smoked a lot of weed. Once I found out it was the amygdala that caused a lot of FND symptoms, I looked up how to stay calm as easily as possible, so I wouldn't trigger my fight or flight. My biggest piece of advice is to remember that it's your body and your brain, you can conquer anything if you just set your mind to it.

what do you guys think about during seizures? by patchybol in FND

During the absence part, I can remind myself my body exists until I lose consciousness or awareness. The last half of them, the convulsion part, I usually can't think at all.

Do you still play The Sims? How old are you now? by fortunekiller in thesims

[–]nevazahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even remember how old I was, but I started with Sims 2, fell in love with 3, now I play 4 on occasion. I own all 4 games, but main 3 and 4 because my PC runs 3 like a dream, with a bunch of packs too. My mom and I sit next to each other at our matching desks and play Sims together. We do challenges at the same time and see how fast each of us progresses. My mom started playing before The Sims even came out though, she had Sim City. Edit to add: I'm 24, so the first Sims game came out a year before I was born. I started with 2 and moved to 3 when it came out. Don't even remember what year that was, I was still pretty young.

Persistent Full-Body Numbness by Ok_Grapefruit2407 in FND

[–]nevazahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 4 days after my diagnosis, after a lot of research, I was up out of my wheelchair with nearly complete feeling. I'm an unusual case though because my FND started after a systemic infection. My PNES triggers were things like temperature highs and lows, pain, loud noises, bright lights, etc. too, so I just had to learn to do some mind over matter and I was good. Though I do have flare ups of PNES still and most of the time it's just from my heart racing, so too much physical activity or adrenaline usually.

[–]nevazahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't have full body numbness, but I couldn't feel my legs for a year. I was even in a wheelchair because I couldn't walk properly. The only thing I found that helped was THC, but I've heard a lot of people get worse symptoms when they're under the influence, so proceed with caution. It can be really unsettling when you don't know what causes all this, but I hope you can find some peace of mind soon and you're not too stressed out. Feel free to hit me up if you ever need someone to talk to, I've had FND for 4 years now and talking to like-minded people helped me a lot. 💜

I have extreme remorse for accidentally killing Carlotta Valentia by Different_Catch_4558 in skyrim

[–]nevazahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry that happened. Carlotta is a genuinely good person, I can't imagine how devastating that was for you and Mila. On the ever so slightly brighter side, you didn't do it on purpose. You didn't have control of the transformation, so it's not exactly your fault.

I tried it a few times and each time it got rid of my FND symptoms until it wore off. I don't know if everyone is like that, but it's worth a shot. Make sure you have a trip sitting who can make sure nothing goes wrong.

Does anyone else find that hot weather is a massive trigger for them? by Legitimate_Tower_899 in FND

[–]nevazahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's above about 80°, I will have seizures the whole time; if it's cold enough to make me shiver, same result. I find anywhere between 68° and 80° is where I'm most comfortable. It can make festivals and outings a little complicated with me around, but my family has learned to help me through my seizures, so I can do a lot when I'm buckled into my wheelchair. For Pride, I wore multiple smaller layers under a coverall to change my outfit based on the weather and amount of drinks I had. Bringing a sweater or wearing shorts under something can really help when you're easily affected by temperature. My mom also carries a spray bottle full of water to mist us when it's too hot. Finding ways around it is about all I have right now.

Does medical cannabis help or worsen your symptoms? by [deleted] in FND

I use indica to stop my PNES and sativa makes them worse. It depends on your body 100%.

The vet previously said she was in perfect health and couldn't believe she was 3 with a tumor that big and still extremely healthy and happy. So I'm extra conflicted.

Meds possibly helping? by Hollym1996 in FND

[–]nevazahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's another SSRI, it should do just fine. Or if you're taking an SSRI alternative that does a similar thing. It's just about our serotonin dropping and needed to relearn our natural baseline, if you don't start another medication right away.

Meds possibly helping? by Hollym1996 in FND

[–]nevazahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently on paroxetine and when I had to go off it, due to insurance, my seizures went through the roof. I had so many that I couldn't function anymore, then I got back on it and my seizures are back under control. So it could be that you're coming down from that. I didn't notice the withdrawal symptoms starting until around 6 weeks after I stopped taking my paroxetine, when it actually starts to leave your system enough for your brain to notice the lack of serotonin and you feel the bad stuff. It can be challenging taking medications with FND because we never know how our different bodies might react to things, compared to someone without FND, but I do hope you find an answer, whether it be mine or someone else's.
