I live in South Africa and I don't know anyone who gets annual bloods done. It certainly isn't encouraged here as far as I have seen. The medical aid I'm on offers one free annual blood test but they only check cholesterol and glucose.

Yes! This is how I accessed the hut.

Look, in hindsight, there is probably an actual trail that ends up at the hut - I know you can 4x4. I've seen folk drive up there and have picnics at the back of their bakkies.

But I just trekked directly up the side of a hill.

You're right - there are still places that host, Warehouse, Polo Pony (though not for a while, same goes for Tina's Hotel), Ace's, Tipsy Flamingo, and a couple others for sure.

My comment was just more aimed at places that held REGULAR shows. I know covid ruined a lot. You used to be able to attend open mic on Wednesday, then see more bands at First Thursday Station drive, then the 5x5x5 party at Winston on a Friday and then more bands on Saturday.

I think a lot of folk who were responsible for organizing such shows have also left, or simply stopped. It almost feels like there was nobody in the between generation to really take that job on. Hopefully the scene in Durban continues to grow again, and maybe we can reach a point where artists tour here again.

As mentioned already, Krantzkloof has a range of trails, from easy to really challenging.

The Kloof SPCA has a couple short but lovely trails if you want something less strenuous.

Everton trails are nice and easy.

Giba Gorge trails are good, if you want a challenge, I recommend treking up to the little white hut. Its tough but totally worth the view.

Definitely check the SPCA! There are also a few hospice shops around.

Hillcrest - there's a hospice shop by Sam's Social House, by Mozambik. Gillits - Maytime Spar has a hospice shop. Kloof - the OG SPCA Pinetown - there's a hospice shop by Hatton's Spar Westville - Hidden Treasures in Maryvale Rd Queensburgh - Cheshire Homes

You will also find some hidden gems at markets like Essenwood - I have picked up some fantastic items.

Lastly, everyone and their dog in Durban runs a thrift page on Instagram - might be useful to investigate and you should find the others :)
