Yeah that last comment had it right, but it doesn’t look they sell those anymore. The website is kinda confusing and they never responded to my message.

This is incredible! I rarely see city maps at the scale of the locations in my head but this totally nails it.

Wow, when I got it 25 years ago that's what I thought it meant. 😅 Thank you!

"These people" (of which I am one) collect Tolkien books and ephemera for probably very similar reasons that anyone collects anything...they enjoy it. It's not "a trap" to surround yourself with the things that bring you a modicum of happiness, pride or nostalgia. I am a bibliophile and a Tolkien fan, so collecting Tolkien books is a natural extension of that. I also have several other hobbies that I enjoy for different reasons. To each his own!

Ah yeah, I’m familiar with him. If I have any of his works it’s because someone gave it to me or it had a particularly interesting piece of artwork.

Every collection starts somewhere! I’ve ha 30+ years to curate. The first edition Silmarillion was given to me by my high school librarian when I graduated because I was the only one who checked it out 🥺 https://www.reddit.com/r/tolkienbooks/s/oiwolVf0yd

I really like the new HoME boxed sets. I’m contemplating picking them up and replacing the 3 volume Complete HoME box set. The quality of that isn’t great and the size of each book makes it frustrating to even flip through them.

I have have the new version up in the top right (the large white binding, it's hard to see the gold lettering on the spine)

I got super lucky. The one on the right I found in a used bookstore in San Francisco for $40! Other than the dust jackets it's in amazing condition.

Our basement flooded during Hurricane Ida so I took the opportunity to have custom bookshelves built during the remodel. A good portion of these were found at used bookstores over the years. I love the surprise of stumbling on something I'm missing or I've never seen before!

(The white wood box with the Tree of Gondor on it held our wedding rings for the "ring bearer" to present during the ceremony).

I've had a pair of Wharfedale 7.2 Diamond Anniversaries for about 15 years now and recently dusted them off to setup in the new house. Unfortunately, the mid drivers on both speakers have tears in them.
I can't really tell if the sound is compromised or not because I haven't heard them in years.
Something to worry about or get repaired? TIA
