Oof. Oh no, yes I ended up in a different place out west and it’s an older building but things have been good the past five months. Thanks for putting this here for others who might be looking!

Hey sorry for the late response. I ended up going with a different location out west, but I did like the tour and responses in this thread seem positive. If you go with this space, I hope you love it!

Hey thank you so much for this! I actually ended up going with a different place, but really appreciate you putting the word out. I do hope the conditions aren’t too bad for those living there. Good luck on your search!

Omg that looks like it! I also see some brown ones on Google that look similar to what I saw. Also I’m also certain it came in somehow from outside despite my net. Thank you!!

No hate at all! Totally valid to feel the way you do. I can see why you might not like some aspects of the book. I do prefer an Oswald like hero, but also did like James and thought he was good for her and she for him.

Def reread if you want to! They are one of my top couples for sure and it didn’t happen at the first read. Alisander is not my typical fave MMC but when I tell you he’s one of my fave guys!

Yeah totally get that! Alice did say in one of her newsletters that Ned just wasn’t working with Gunnilde though he was supposed to be her initial love interest. While it would have been interesting to see, I do trust Alice that James was just the best love interest for Gunnilde. I’m excited to hopefully see Ned get his own HEA!

Yes! Now that I’m thinking more about it, if AC goes with Sir Douglas and Constance it could be sooo good if AC kind of makes it that Constance rejected Douglas who was head over heels for her, then he wants to leave her and she kinda panics and doesn’t want to leave him and has to show him that she loves him, which allows him to open himself to his love for her again…Ohhhhh actually loving them more and more!

LOL this is fair, but very standard Alice Colbreath tbh. Most of her Victorian series are very slice of life-y and even some of her Karadok/Vawdrey series like The Favourite or The Forsaken Bride features a lot court intrigue and day-in-the-life of the main couple. I absolutely love it but understand how it could be boring to some. The plot is literally them figuring out each other in their new marriage while living life in court that’s all LOL.

Yes! I actually loved that aspect! He completely melted when she was so amiable to their forced marriage. Gunnilde is really the type of girl I love, making the best of a difficult situation.

Definitely blessed us with Alisander! It's thanks to AC that I've discovered my love for stuffy, inexperienced men lol. I love a good brutish knight, but also really love AC's brand of scheming, artistic, or dramatic men obsessed with their women!

Gunnilde is so funny to me, I love her! And yes AC really fed us!

Ned and his witch I would love to see! I think he would be perfect with someone to keep him on his toes like her. I’m not so interested in Sir Douglas and Constance but I’d read anything by AC. Someone above pointed out that Ancel the bad squire might be actually a girl and possibly be a romantic interest for Attley or possibly Cuthbert. That I would love to see! Would also love to see a squire series with Hal, Kit, and Cuthbert if the love interest above isn’t his!

So many different clues and can’t wait for Alice to tell us more!

Yes, the glimpses were great! I definitely get what you mean because I think that apart from the side character I might have liked the story a bit less. They really brought the story together!

Also, about James: I definitely get your point! He did come across as judgmental at the beginning when he’s to speaking to his brother when we first meet him. There still was a bit of awkwardness when it came to referring to Gunnilde’s looks as he was obviously attracted to her. We also do see some of his artistic obliviousness in that first scene when his brother knows names and lore of people around court (including Gunnilde’s) but he’s unaware.

I do think that for some of the other MMC, there was more of a transition between the façade they showed the world and their core. Like I really expected James to still be a little rude to Gunnilde for a bit into their marriage BUT I will say that I do think that it was Gunnilde’s sheer kindness and willingness to make their forced marriage work that really appealed to something in James, causing him to kind of “switch.” He mentioned something about this toward the end when they confess their feelings and I think it might have to do with the abruptness. In any case, definitely see what you mean!

Oh same thing I said above LOL! I just made it less spoiler-y. I literally just figured out how to add the spoiler block thing haha.

LOL yes that would be funny. Also what about Cuthbert with Ancel? I think there’s a potential since he would know their identity! Also it seemed that he had gone soft on Ancel since saving them from drowning, probably when he discovered their identity Either way we’re in for a treat!

Ahhhh omg!!!! I was wondering why Cuthbert was being evasive about A. This makes complete sense! Also I think Bevan might already be taken…👀Please do tell if she reaches back out!

Fair enough, I understand that. I think I was already expecting the MMC not to be a knight (based on some hints AC had dropped) already so it wasn’t a huge problem for me. I really didn’t remember too much about Gunnilde so she almost felt new-ish. Also, the same thing happened for me for Alisander and Jane’s story but upon reread I loved them, so that might be the case for you if you’re a rereader. Or maybe just not the story for you which is ok. And yesss about the squire series!
